Default What fictional detective / cop would you call to help solve a mystery ?

If some git was putting their empty glass jars into your front garden recycling crate, who would you like to get on the case . Here are some ideas...

These super sleuths with a no holds barred attitude and machine like work ethic get the job done in true style:

To analyse the crime scene, follow up leads and locate and track the culprit:
Ultimate Force (Ross Kemp), Magnum P.I. and of course Jack Bauer.

To take out the target:
Hetty Wainthropp

and Cadfael

Others could be Wycliffe, D.I Jack Frost, Henry Crabbe from Pie in the Sky, Taggart, Boon, Bergerac, Miss Marple, Poirot, Colombo, Perry Mason, Morse, Lewis, The Sweeny, The Professionals, Dangerfield, Danger Mouse, Scooby Doo

My girlfriend would call on Magnum because she loves his hairy chest, but I'd go for the detective genius himself ... Columbo.

columbo's great he's thick but clever. he lulls the vilain into a false sense of security then rips them to shreds. all the other ones are up their own arses. and the worst one is that pretentious twat poirot.

i've just noticed jack frost is the same as columbo. never realised that before.

Columbo. Although, he's not looking too good these days. In fact, actor Peter Falk has Alzheimer's disease and no longer remembers being in Columbo

That's why he's a genius. He makes you think he's thick ... but he's sharper than a razor. I was watching him on Sunday, and he was even wearing me down everytime he kept coming back at the villain with ''one more thing sir''. You can't shake off good old Columbo.

Shaun Spencer from Psych. I love that show.
Or, Carnacki the ghost-finder.

Have you read the Nero Wolfe books? I have heard the radio shows, they are good.

Of course you could call Rorscharch.

Ah, good point!

I'll have Jean Claude Van Damme in Time Cop then. You'll be laughing so hard at him you'll forget duck when he ballets you to death.

Dexter - he's pretty good at getting the bad guys because he thinks and acts like one. He would be interesting to have around too.

Yes Robocop did some detective work. When becoming a robot, Robo had those flashbacks, like when with the badguy at the petrol station who kept shouting "we killed you we killed you" !!!
From this point on he started to piece together what happened and even traced his wife and kid from when Robo was a guy. Then of course he tracked down the badguys and took care of them.

Everything about columbo is right.

But Jack frost is a nob, he has just this one line of discourse which is to be a really annoying and grumpy DelBoy.

You sometimes expect him to call out to Rodders or Uncle Albert for a fryup or to say what a plonkaa
