Default Has Chinese medicine worked for you?

I recently went to get acupuncture from a Chinese acupuncturist for my back/neck pain. Towards the end of the session I was asked if I wanted some medicine which would help me relax and recover better.
The cost was high...like double over the counter medicine. I'm half way through but am feeling sceptical about the whole thing. Is Chinese herbal medicine all hocus pocus? Is it all a scam? A con? What concerns me is the secretive nature...no info. on ingredients in the bottles.

I'm more inclined to think acupuncture itself helps alleviate back pain. Doesn't cure you but had some good results in the past. But these exotic pills they give you.....don't think so. Anyone?

I've had acupuncture for back problems. Seemed to work. Sceptical about pills and potions, though.
