From what ive read you take it everyday and it builds up somewhat and like all supplements after say 6 weeks have a week break so body dosent become used to it. cant see there being any probs just taking it now and then, as i felt the effect from the first time i took it.

The good thing about it, is that it lasts alot longer that most supplements. Ive found if take it at about 9 in the morning i need a small top up about 5 in the evening, so its much less of an inconvenience than something you need to take 4 times a day!

I did my re-claim last week heh..

Thx, I pretty much thought it works.

When it comes to medication I dont really agree with it as an answer. But. Something like this might help for the mornings. See. As time passes im capable of controlling my thoughts better. The more time passes the better I get at it. Im simply not a morning person. If I could calm my body down for a while before I switch my brain on it might help somewhat.

Anyway I felt left out and already orded some (mainly because so cheap) before I even wrote my first post. It hardly cost much just to try it.

I was considering trying this stuff so done some research. If you're taking any prescription meds for your anxiety/depression DO NOT take this supplement as well. It can cause serious health problems.

But as an alternative on it's own it seems very beneficial.

Check out what's safe here...

I wonder whether Simplysupplements have had a run on these? I put in an order on Saturday but haven't been told it's been despatched yet. Still, at £5.49 for 120 tabs including delivery, I don't mind waiting a bit

Thanks for the extra info btw, maro111, I'm looking forward to trying this

I've been on mine for a couple of days now (I take 2 tablets at a time once a day) and I suppose I feel a bit more... chirpier (I'm crap at describing my feelings ).

Sound investment for just over 5 measly quid. So cheers for mentioning them, maro.

Hi maro, I don't think its really neccesary to reply to everyone unless theres a query. Which reminds me, you said it takes a while for your stomach to get used to them, what exactly do you mean by this? I'm a bit worried as my tum is quite sensitive. I havent got the tablets yet though, and its been over a week, hope they come soon.

Yup, if you look i only reply to the people who have queries or the ones who have said thanks, as it would be rude not to.

They gave me gripes and wind for about a week, then it settled down. Now i can take them without food and its fine. Taking them with food did help when i was having problems. Obviously your stomach will be different to mine, but try sticking with them for a least a couple of weeks..hope this helps!

no probs. yeh i was getting a bit annoyed with how long they took to come and i assumed that they used the slowest post class there is as the p+p is free. When it did come though, it was first class to be fair. Think it has to go through customs from guernsey.

actually started to get some vivid dreams the last few nights. used to get them a bit with the effexor. its stange as everyone is based around school life years ago. Its amazing whats stored in your head and you dont even know about. Have no idea why thoughts of something which happened 10+ years ago would be so prominent

Got mine today...
I notice on the container it states 'one tablet per day' 250mg
Is this enough? Maro i notice that you are taking 1000mg per day, is this the dosage you require for it to have an effect on you?

hi,

yeh to get the desired effect i needed that much (1 tablet didnt really do much). However in the last few days (been on them two weeks now) i have notice that 500mg at a time is having more of a calming effect than energy..so i am going to reduced to 250mg in the morn and 250mg at around 2pm. Probably just took this long to fully work. i had to stop taking the 500mg in the afternoon from a couple of days ago as was making me restless at night.

so yeh i needed those dosages for about two weeks but will reduce them from now on. I took 750mg yesterday (which had previously made me calm but still energetic) and it totally calmed me down a crazy amount. not tired but very calm. so its good to know can use that dose if really need it.

hope this helps!

Hey i've been on these tabs for 3 whole days man. 1st day was amazing was jumping about and all happy - but i think that was the placebo effect mta. It's a bit, no, alot of a manic time for me so won't be able to properly judge the effects.

Not too sure whether taking so many is a good idea either.. Too much of anything is a bad thing and you gotta be careful..

Glad it's worked for you thought maro.

Cheers Mate..

some days are definately better than others on it. i kinda have mabye two brilliant days and then two less good days. The problem with me is i try to do too much on those brilliant days and basically go crazy and after them am knackerd. I think its this tiredness that leads to the lesser day. I often worry about the placebo effect and tbh i thought the same after my first day on them that it was too good to be true. But i still have alot of days now when i feel that good and i personally dont think its the placebo effect working on all these occassions. tbh alot of the time i dont expect it to work as i wake up feeling pretty bad sometimes.

I do hope you will stick with them a bit longer drifting damo, definately nothing to lose. Their definately not a miracle cure, but consistently the best stuff i have tried (and ive tried quite alot of things) and tbh i cant see myself without them.

Interestly (or mabye not) i have just started zinc as sometimes my skin can be a bit greasy, and i have found reports that they can be good for anxiety. Apparently zinc is key in building testosterone levels, which can effect things like assertiveness, depression, confidence, motivation etc.
Mabye another option?..im not going to stop looking until i beat this bugger SA lol

I personally think adaptogens could definately be the way forward for anxiety and depression sufferers. Adaptogens like rhodiola, siberian ginseng and korean ginseng (not the same thing) have been used in the east for thousands of years but are relatively unknown (and mabye distrusted in the west). They are herbs which have an anti-stress, anti-anxiety effect whilst helping to tackle fatigue and unhappiness.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptogen

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-an-adaptogen.htm

The simplysupplements brochure suggests that rhodiola rosesa has a calming effect (which for me it certainly does) whereas ginseng is more energising and perhaps better for depression.

I am definately going to do more research into adaptogens as they are extremely promising, especially in the light of the following:

Hey ShyBean.

Definately Definately not ecstacy..ive never done and will never do illegal drugs..noway. Rhodiola is a herb. I know its not my true self and hides the real me, but the real me is getting nowhere in life and cant really handles things very well. So imo im quite happy to take a safe, simple natural remedy which can make me feel better. I dont expect to live off them for the rest of my life, but to try and help me get out of this rut. It may not be ideal but its betetr than the suicidal thoughts and anxiety i would have otherwise.

Hey maro, nice find! In your research have you found out why ordinary shops, boots, holland and barrett etc don't stock them? Is there a reason for this? Or is there a shop that sells it? For various reasons I can't order them off the internet.

Hey Magnad, i know holland & barrett have just added it to their internet list so it might follow in the shops soon. I think it is still a bit unknown compared to the likes of ginseng so not stocked in shops as much (i.e. bit specialist). Other than that, sorry i cant help you. Try ringing your local herbalist shops, they usually sell things like these (i.e. smaller shops and not chains).
