^ This is why I wanted kids. I get to go to the cinema and watch kids movies and go to places like trampoline parks and theme parks without looking like a paedophile.

Getting drunk and feeling sorry for myself. Does that count?

Been spending the last few hours trying to fix a leak in my toilet cistern,
Took ages to prize it off the wall and have disassembled it all and cleaned it all out,
Think the new pack of fittings I got to reassemble it are wrong, so have sent away for new ones,
It's a strange thing called a doughnut washer and it comes with a metal bracket,
Only just finding out that they're all different, and only suit their own makes

Gonna' be pissin' in the sink for a while longer

^ Ahh, nothing more anxiety inducing than having workmen in the house Quicksand! But, like you say, it will be so totally worth it when you have a lovely new kitchen

Just emailing an old friend who has asked me to meet up with her next month. Last time she asked I had to turn her down because I didn't feel physically or mentally up to it and, tbh, I still don't but I am going to make the effort as it would be so lovely to see her again. I'm always moaning about wanting friends but then spend my life avoiding the few I have. SA really really really sucks!

^ Aww, it's such a pity you weren't able to meet up with the other Mum, Melangell, but I would have reacted in exactly the same way. I think that's the most cruel thing about Social Anxiety is wanting so very much to interact and bond with other people but not being able to do so because of our irrational fear.

I actually met my friend through SAUK about 18 years ago (I've met all the nicest people through here ) and as we didn't live too far away from each other we would see each other every week. But other commitments came a long and we gradually saw each other less and less although always kept in contact. The thing is she is so lovely and obviously understands SA totally but it doesn't stop me turning into a bag of nerves at the prospect of meeting again. As you say, SA sucks

I'm bolting an engine, that I rebuilt, into a 1957 Ferguson FE35 tractor.
I wonder if it will still be going in another 62 years.

^^ Ah, I can see why you are so worried Kooky
I think you are doing the right thing by leaving her be until the Vet can take a look at her today if being handled stresses her out so much. Even our most feisty cat becomes a bit more docile when the Vet takes charge. If only our silly cats could realise that we are only trying to help them! I hope it's nothing too serious anyway. Let us know how it goes x

Yes it's a real buzz starting an engine for the first time after a rebuild, I've done more than I can remember but I still get that excitement (and relief) when it comes to life for the first time.

^^ Wie lange hast du es gelernt?

I've been doing it on Duolingo and with the odd book for the last few years. You can definitely only go so far doing it alone though. Ideally I'd go to a class or join a German speaking group, but it's finding a decent one (and the time (and the scary social aspect)).

^ Looks pretty on point to me. And pretty impressive if you've only come back to learning it in the last few months. My grammar is much weaker than my vocabulary, so I still struggle to string sentences together beyond the stock and obvious ones. Ich muss das verbessern.

^ Don't deny yourself a couple of hours of escapism if you need it. Being awake 16 hours straight feeling like shit is horrible, you wouldn't be doing anything wrong whittling it down slightly. Big fan of sleep, me.

^ I agree. Sometimes the only form of escapism from Life is sleeping accept if you experience a nightmare and sometimes they are preferable to reality!

^^ I hope you start to feel better very soon Whimsical Stranger as I think you've been doing so well this past year or so with your studies and what not

Trying to stop myself from having some chocolate, but my will power is almost non existent. I'm SO annoyed with myself for piling on the weight after I'd managed to lose some a year ago. I went for a 3 1/2 mile walk yesterday and it almost killed me. I was literally gasping for air! I also loathe seeing myself in photographs more than ever now. Is it terrible of me to want to be ill (nothing too serious) which takes away my appetite

Trying to decide which phone to buy should I not be able to fix mine.

Got my shortlist:

S9
Mi 8 SE
OnePlus 6

Think I've settled on the Oneplus 6, although I might just buy a straight replacement for my S6 :/
