Default Headspace- amazing!

Has anyone else got the app? I finally subscribed after years of thinking about doing so and I can truthfully say its one of the best things Ive done.
It really has so much to offer. Daily meditations podcasts and best of all a section on sleep.
The sleepcasts are like adult bedtime stories and are amazing to relax you as you fall.asleep. I have huge anxiety at night.
It even has a section for waking up in the night!
Has anyone else got the app? What do you think of it?

All these apps are probably quite helpful, but they always seem to be a tad expensive too?
Can you get a free version, (with adverts, presumably?, although adverts might ruin the ambiance )
I prefer just looking for the same type of thing on youtube and spotify, to save money.

I looked into the 'Calm' app as well, which is in a similar vein, and that was even more expensive, £399.00 for a one-off lifetime membership.

Paul McKenna has some guided relaxation stuff on youtube as well, which is free, and you can get nice relaxing talking books on YouTube as well,

But, fair play, .. if it's something you really like I'm glad it's helping you.

I am a bit of a miserable old skinflint who's watching the pennies just now

I paid £49.99 for the year. I mean yes I agree it seems a lot but I felt like I could easily waste that money on other stuff.
I usually hate subscriptions but I was very intrigued by headspace for years.
There are things on there that you couldnt find elsewhere ...like the sleepcasts and the sleep SOS.
I honestly feel so relaxed listening to their stuff.
It makes me emotional somehow. I was read stories as a child but obviously that stops as an adult. It made me feel nurtured almost.

The daily meditations come as bitesize suggestions and are very accessable.

Thats why Im raving about it because I genuinely feel its worth the money!!!

This is exactly what I need!

Do you feel committed to it? Im terrible for signing up for things and then forgetting. Does it become part of your daily routine or is it something you dip into?

Anyone who works for the NHS can get it for free: https://www.england.nhs.uk/supportin...pps/headspace/

Hi Biscuits. I open the app very frequently. The way its designed is there is something suggested for the morning, afternoon and evening

I always listen to the sleepcasts at night. Some of them are free on youtube

The midnight laundrette was the first one I listened to and it was kind of magical!

£400 for a lifetime membership is taking the biscuit. Even £45 for a year is out of order

I sometimes use the Calm app but find the bedtime stories are very comforting - I just can't seem to get to grips with meditating and think someone would do well to try listening to free YouTube meditations from Jon Kabat-Zinn etc. before forking out for an app. I don't know if they do it every year, but I got my lifetime Calm membership on a Black Friday deal and it was much less than £400.

^ I always get ads for Calm on Instagram. Always the sound of water when I've just gone to bed. It makes me have to get up to go for a wee !

That's good to know! Thank yooou. My sister sends me little videos to listen to, to help with relaxation. I always mean to listen to them but forget to

I get myself so heightened with anxiety these days that I think having something that I listen to at regular times in a routine each day will be a good idea to help manage it. That's the plan anyway! my brain will find a way, I'm sure

I'm going to get it!

As for the price, I get why people prefer free things but I'm terrible at sticking with stuff so something that tells me to listen will be good. It works out at roughy £1 a week and that feels okay for me.

At the moment they're doing 20% off a gift subscription so it's £39.97. Can I send a gift to... myself?

The Get Sleepy podcast is really useful for those who like something meditative to listen to before sleep. It's free of charge, the stories/scenarios are well done, there's good variation, they're quite regular at 2-3 days for a new one, 45mins - 1hr per episode. There is a premium option but i've not even considered it.

I'd rather fall asleep to something random on youtube but the loud, random interjection of adverts really puts me off.

That's fair enough. I can't really say too much for the content quality for the length of an episode because i don't usually last that long into it and i'm only really in it for the meditative ambience and soothing voices. The nature of the stories are good enough, they're enough to lull you in and that's about as much as i want. It works for me, what can i say

Yes. I find its just having a voice to listen to as I fall asleep as I feel very anxious and lonely at night sometimes Ive had physical hallucinations and sensations of someone grabbing me. I never knew about sleepcasts until I got headspace so I was really impressed by it. I do really believe in meditation. It works for me and for a little while I can chill out

So I sent myself the gift and haven't received it, which means I must have typo-ed my email address. One day I'll learn to slow down and check things. Now I need to contact them to work out who I've sent it to and set it up for my email address.

Cheers for the recommendation, Ange!

I also bought a relaxing pillow and room mist, which is so nice to sniff before sleep.
