What would you do if...
There are tons of videos on YouTube and on TV where some man/woman with a microphone and camera approaching random people on the street and start asking them about their opinion on something.
What would be your reaction if they approached you? Do you think you would be nervous while speaking knowing the interview is going to be aired on TV or online? |

Re: What would you do if...
They wouldn't approach me, because as soon as I saw them I would turn away and start walking. No eye contact, no engagement. Unless they followed me Roger Cook style. "Mr Londoner, what do you have to say about your company's involvement in the 2014 cheese sandwich scandal?"
"I have no comment at this time, stop filming me. The rumours were entirely unfounded and you will be hearing from my solicitor in due course." |

Re: What would you do if...
I'd be curious and want to know what they're asking!
I like the guy that gets people to listen to the info to songs and name them. |

I'd probably try to make a joke, come off as weird and then go over it in my head for the next 10 years.

Re: What would you do if...
I think I would probably come across as stilted. Like a cheese. Or is that Stilton? Although I've never had a microphone shoved into my boat race before, so it's difficult to know how I would respond. There is a part of me that likes to think that I could wing it. But then again, it depends on the subject matter. If it's going to be a serious question, then I might falter.
News reporter: What are your views on the recent budget cuts? Me: It's not good News reporter: Is there anything else that you would like to add? Me: It's really not good News reporter: Thank you for your time Now that I've typed it down, I think I could wing it after all! I'm a winner! |

Re: What would you do if...
Whenever I see vox pop interviews on television, I wonder how I never get approached for these things (sometimes, the location will be somewhere I visited that day, but obviously not at the right time); how I would react would, of course, depend on how much I cared about the issue in question, but if I were asked about something I considered important, I would give an impassioned answer, otherwise I would probably decline to comment.
Years ago (1981 to be precise), I was approached to do the "Pepsi Challenge" for a series of advertisements which were running at that time, but as I told the interviewer that I found both brands (Pepsi & Coke) disgusting, the clip was never used! I have participated (in the late 1980s and 1990s) in studio-based discussion shows but never, apart from that one time, been approached randomly. |
