You mean you don't get excited about the same film being made over and over again?

I'll watch the film (at some point) but the beeb's coverage is always overkill, getting excited about a song, several commentaries, repeated clips

I've just had the flattest diet coke I've ever had, from Mcdonalds
also the front screen in McD's, you're just deciding what to have from the menu, then it changes to "buy chicken nuggets" or something, then you wait for 20 seconds till it changes back to the menu |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
My dad phoned earlier to say his auntie died on Monday and basically it turns I'm going to have to go to Japan with him either next week or the week after for the funeral. I just can't be bothered going. I know, I know... it probably sounds very spoilt. The news isn't sad for me because I barely knew her and even though I would happily accompany someone to a funeral if they wanted me to, this just feels like a massive annoyance having to take two long flights for it. They haven't even confirmed when it is either so I don't know if the cattery has space available yet. He doesn't want to go on his own, but my mum can't go with him because she has to stay and sort out things for their move. My sister would happily go with him, but she took last week off work to look after me and now has loads to catch up with, so it's my fault I've ended up having to do it anyway.

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ Sorry to hear that and it does sound like a lot of travelling etc! Maybe you could treat it as an opportunity to spend a bit of quality time with your Dad? Japan always seems like an interesting place to visit (I know it probably depends where you're going exactly) maybe you could arrange to visit somewhere interesting while you're there, or just find out a bit more about your extended family.

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
I've checked with the cattery and they have availability whenever it turns out to be, but I still don't know when the funeral is. I suppose I could discuss visiting somewhere interesting, yeah. I'll have to have a think about where. I always find things a bit awkward with extended family. I did just want to go for like three days or something, but my dad is talking about a week or more so I don't know yet. It is an interesting place I guess, but the novelty wore off a long time ago. What puts me off most is the number of tourists these days - they changed some law about five or six years ago which meant the number of Chinese tourists there skyrocketed and now lots of places are unpleasantly busy (it doesn't help that many of them take up even more space by constantly pulling around suitcases for some reason). Although actually, maybe now might be a good time to go because of the virus restricting their travel lol.

When someone's messaging you during their hour and a half long gym session they started at 7.30 and asks, 'Are you still in bed?'
Ummm…. yes. It's not 8.30 yet. |

Hey, what's wrong with pea-sized... ?? Why're you trying to change the standard to ladybird? Pea-sized is the nations favourite.
Personally i'm quite pleased with this less jam trend (if true), cos of it's haphazard potential to spill out onto .. wherever it lands (.... unless it's cleavage.............. (not my own)). |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
I don't think you can really call it a jam doughnut unless you get a little splodge of it on your jumper, or if you're all la-di-da and use a plate when eating, a bit of errant jamminess that needs mopping up with the remaining dough.

^ It was pretty good, didn't disappoint.
I like the way they've released the 1st and 2nd eps close together, so you can take a good sized bite at it and feel sated until the the 3rd comes a week later (and yes it is weekly). |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
It annoys me that I've only recently got into Eastern European food and drink, after my travels around that part of the world in recent years, and the shops specialising in such things keep closing down in my area. It seems many Eastern Europeans are moving back now sadly (I wonder why!!)

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
Airport bureau de change. I was standing by Moneycorp's desk looking at their exchange rates (the sell rate is half the buy rate!) when a Spanish man approached the desk, wanting to change Euros into Czech Koruna; the lady explained that she would have to buy the Euros for pounds, then sell the Koruna. She asked him how many Euros he wanted to change and he said 100, which I quickly calculated would have left him with 994 Korunas, worth £33 (there is also a commission of £4.99 payable on each transaction of less than £300). I was ready to intervene when, to her credit, I heard her tell him to change his money in Prague - and even translated it into Spanish when he didn't understand.
I know the rates are clearly displayed (although the commission wasn't so prominent) but I wonder how many people don't look and have no idea how bad a deal they're getting. Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
When my Mum asks me to help her with something technical.
It usually goes as follows: 1) Mum asks if I can help her 2) I say 'sure' and then ask her what she needs help with, and she tells me. 3) I then ask her further questions like 'do you usually send emails through your phone?' or 'what is your password?' 4) She starts getting frustrated and says 'I don't know, thats why i'm asking you'. She starts raising her voice and it feels like she is really annoyed with me 5) I say 'please don't get annoyed with me', and she replies 'IM NOT GETTING ANNOYED WITH YOU', and she says 'its ok I can do it myself' 6) I try to insist that I can help, and she insists she doesn't need me anymore, but also says things like 'I don't know why you can't just help me'. What else can I do in these situations? It ALWAYS ends up like this, where she bizarrely gets annoyed with me, and I feel quite upset with how she has talked to me. No doubt she will be on the phone later to someone saying how I havent helped. And because its just me and my mum, and im an only child, there is no one to back me up. OMG I need to move out. |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ Ha, boomers!
Maybe what your Mum is actually meaning is "can you do this for me?" so you basically just need to try to do what you think she's asking you to do without asking any questions. Difficult if you need her password though! The problem I have with my Mum, which still happens when I visit home, is that my Mum will ask me to do something and if I don't drop everything that second and do it she'll do it herself instead. |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ I think most mums are like that, I know mine was!
Toilet tissue dispensers in public cubicles - the ones where it comes out of the middle and you can only get one (small, thin) sheet at a time. I would elaborate, but it's probably TMI (if I haven't said too much already). And while I'm on the subject, what is the point of having hands-free soap dispensers if you then have to operate the tap by hand? Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
Being so needy and insecure. I'm told multiple times a day I'm loved and I still want to be like, 'but are you sure?' 'how do you know?' 'GIVE ME SOME FORM OF DATED GUARANTEE WITH ACCOMPANYING POLYGRAPH TEST PLEASE.'
The funny thing is, it's usually him that says it first, so from the outside he's the needy one. Ugh. It's definitely easier going out with people you don't proper proper like. |
