Default Meeting random people... and not dieing (too much)

I've been volunteering at a small museum in London, partly for UCAS, partly to try and boost my interactions with people I don't know - in a non socially pressurised situation.

It involves giving a short presentation (which I totally fluffed up the first few times :embarass: , but it seems to be going better now (even done it in 2 languages simultaniously ).

So, a small victory, but I don't know how much it will help in the long run. I don't feel very much more confident about meeting new people in person, and self doubt seems to be winning the battle. Hurrah ¬_¬

I seem to be able to communicate with people when I have some *proper* reason to, such as asking someone in a shop where the honey is or when giving them a talk on x, y and z. Apart from that I fail miserably.

It's the same even when not talking to people, if I'm walking down the road and people come in the other direction I'm scared s**t-less, but I was at a small music festival on the weekend and walking around to see bands or for some other purpouse with loads more people there I was fine. How wierd I am.
