Blood tranfusion
I was told today thats its possible that I may have to have a blood tranfusion if my red blood cell count drops lower.
This is happening because of the drug Im on to treat my breast cancer. Im not really that worried as I know it is common but was wondering if anyone here has had one and what it entails..ie a stay overnight in hospital etc. Im also going to try and eat some iron rich foods which I guess I do anyway...not the dreaded spinach although I do like it! |

Re: Blood tranfusion
I haven't had a blood transfusion but my parents who both suffered with cancer did and it never entailed an overnight stay in hospital unless they happened to already be in hospital, if that makes sense. These days the NHS doesn't want anyone taking up precious bed space no matter how ill they may be!
I remember my parents feeling quite invigorated after a blood transfusion and I hope it will be this way for you too https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/318984 Hope this helps |

Re: Blood tranfusion
Yes Ive got myself 2 bars of dark chocolate. Some spinach too. Its only if my red count falls below a certain point that a transfusion will be necessary.
A lot of people have them because they are anaemic too! |
