I think it's so hard to give up the smartphone because I have became so dependable on it. I use it for recipes and even yoga subscriptions. I'm thinking of buying a kindle soon so I don't have to depend on the phone to read digital books. I think the downside to a device that does so much for you is that it becomes like a crutch and is even worse when it makes you depressed because of some not so healthy interactions you have with certain things and people.

I know the smartphone is the beginning of the internet of things though. I wonder what the implications are of having every appliance connected to the internet. They would become smarter and more automated but how would it psychologically affect people?

My four day holiday. I'm going mad. I hope that will hold me for a bit. I need to be able to process a bit, then focus again. AARGH!

Yes, I will be doing lots of walks on hills, and hopefully not getting lost. Tbh, I'm going away not just for a change of scene, but to process. And cry, if I can manage it. Hence it is expensive so I had to reduce the holiday length because I don't want other people around. Shed load of stuff was booked up, unsurprisingly.

^ do you like Christmas episodes of tv series?

I remember American tv programmes being sent over here later on in the year than they were shown in The States, and we'd have Christmas episodes in June hehe

I like watching a Christmas episode at the wrong time of year. Puts me in a cosy mood.

Edward st Aubyn’s new novel Double Blind. I would normally buy it on Amazon, but I don’t want bookshops to start going bankrupt, so I bought it from a nice local shop instead. I love st Aubyn’s stuff. The Melrose novels were masterpieces.

Some D3, K2 and Magnesium supplements online.
Don't know if they are helping me but I shall persevere a little longer.

^ I have one of those toothbrushes with the pressure sensor. They're pretty good!

I recommend brushing your teeth in complete darkness near a mirror. It lights up red and makes you look like a monster from a horror movie.

^^^ Remember not to use mouthwash after brushing! So many people do for some reason, but doing that just rinses off the fluoride from the toothpaste (same if you do it with water).

^I have to rinse off the mouthwash with water. Is that pointless too? I just can't stand the after taste.

Mouthwash is supposed to be for between brushes (such as after lunch or dinner if you feel you need it) or after flossing, to rinse out the mouth before brushing. Toothpaste is supposed to stay on your teeth after brushing in order for it to do its work (so just spit out the excess and do nothing else) - if you rinse it off with anything it makes it useless.

(Sorry, my parents are dentists )

^^^
I never knew this Jen! I've been brushing my gnashers and then gargling with mouthwash for decades! It's amazing that I've still got all my own teeth! Although they could be better. I've had a few fillings over the years. Nothing major. It didn't help that I was going through a sherbet kali binge for a while. The bonbon binges didn't help either. Then there was the cadbury's binges. Not forgetting the nestle binges. Did I mention the asda cheap chocolate binges? They were quite a binge in itself!

Anyway, great advice, Jen!
