My son was looking for a peach pen to colour in a monkey's face, I found it and went upstairs to give it to him, he shook his head disappointedly and said 'well, I appreciate that mummy but I've had to make do with the yellowy-orange one instead', obviously very dissatisfied with his wildly inaccurate depiction of a cartoon chimpanzee.

Sounds more King Arthurish to me.

Maybe he saved you from a fate worse than shopping.

Either way, I guess the poor trolley ends up getting thrown into a lake.

My five year old's sense of humour. He recently brought home a colour-in Starry Night by Van Gogh from school, so I told him about his ear, expecting him to be horrified. His response: 'Why did he do that? Did he get sick of the sound of his own voice?', then fell about laughing.

Then she said, "I went in there on Friday and this lady was mugging me off with 'it's in aisle nine or 10'!"

(((Mugging me off!))) Haha! She thinks she's bloody Danny Dyer.
I don't know, I'm sure there are some women out there who'd drop their knickers at a man who has an extensive knowledge of cleaning products. I haven't met any of these women yet but statistically I'm sure they exist.

You've got to love mum's some days. Mine recently piped up and said she doesn't like the trainee pharmacist because he looks too young. I tried to point out to her that if he's a trainee it's a safe bet he's going to be young.

Just out of interest what part of the country is she from?

I volunteered to escort P1s through the parade for my town's gala on Saturday, they were so well-behaved apart from stopping every two seconds to pick up a cool stick. It was so much fun.
A girl walked past us wearing a Tae-Kwon Do outfit and a wee boy goes 'look, it's a ninja!', my son replies 'that's not a ninja, silly, it's a grown-up karate guy'.

The same wee boy spotted a Saltire flying from someone's window and he yells 'a Scotland flag! I LIVE IN SCOTLAND!', I said 'me too! what a coincidence!', he looked at me wide-eyed and said 'Really?!'

Haha kids are terrible but often so great. Little bullies. My little nephew made a big issue of me having chocolate around my mouth all day. It was brown lipstick. Can always count on a kid to tell you the truth of just how pathetically idiotic that overpriced, celebrity endorsed product makes you look.

My nephew lent me two if his little cars, i've now got them for an indefinite period. Not sure what i'm gonna do with them but i thought it was pretty swell that i have his trust.

Had my Niece read one of her school grade poetry books, helped her read out 'parakeet' and 'mongoose'. When she finished the poem i pulled her up on these two words, asking her to point out, in the picture, which she thought was the mongoose and which the parakeet.

Was in London yesterday, and went into a coffee chain. The staff were very multicultural - Eastern Europeans, Carribeans and Asians - they were all having a brilliant laugh and were great with the customers.

I love to see that, especially as so many people negative people seem to dislike multiculturalism

Driving past a middle aged man taking his dog for a walk. Every now and then he turns and chats to the dog, and the dog looks up at him as if it's listening. That always makes me laugh. There is something so sweet about middle-aged men and their dogs. The dog is like their little mate.

Was that 19 Crimes? I had that yesterday and was wondering what was up with the weird bottle. I'll have a go later.

I've hung a bird feeder from the tree in the garden which is covered in pink blossom. I love watching the little blue tits and robins feasting on the peanuts. It's enchanting to see.

When someone sends me a PM to tell me that something I said on the forum helped them. I was feeling so down this morning but receiving that PM has really lifted me up.

^ Now, I was smiling until I read that. I never get PMs like that! Seriously though, Consolida, you say a lot of helpful and supportive things in your posts so you deserve some recognition.

By the way, I've only just realised that signatures don't show on Tapatalk - I nearly quoted!

^There are some people on this forum who have a genuine talent for being truly understanding and expressing their support and encouragement to others, even while they might be struggling themselves. Both Consolida and you, GI, are certainly chief among those who deserve recognition for this

Thank you, Marco, it's very kind of you to say - but I'm not struggling these days, at least no more than anybody else. There are others who demand far more credit than I.

This looked like nonsense when I started typing until I realised my keyboard was set to Russian!

Looking in the 'small things that make you smile' thread and seeing the kind comments from GI and Marco.
I don't think I've been supportive at all lately - far too obsessed with my own issues - but thank you all the same x

My neighbour coming round with a couple of little bottles of hand sanitiser. We had mentioned how we couldn't get any as they had all sold out and the neighbour said he could get some for us from his workplace. Thought nothing more of it, as people are always saying they will do this or that and absolutely nothing ever comes of it, but sure enough he turned up at the door with some. It's not getting some hand sanitiser that made me smile (simple soap and water is adequate enough) but the fact that he remembered. It's good to have nice neighbours.

I went for a walk along the coast today. I felt the sun and a gentle breeze. I could see the signs of spring with the new buds and the bulbs starting to spring up. The thought of spring does cheer me up.

Receiving the most beautiful handmade birthday card in the post today from my sweet online friend newbs

It was such a lovely surprise and certainly made me smile at a time when just existing has become a bit of a struggle. It's also made me realise how online friends, especially the ones suffering with their own poor mental health, are far kinder and caring than real life 'friends'.
