That's great news. I'm sure you'll do excellent. Best of luck.

I've got to go to an assessment centre tomorrow and I'm already shaking.

It's for a bank position. It's great money and short term but there will be a lot of competition and I have no chance of getting it.

Went to job seekers today and they didn't even bother to check my job record, maybes its because I've just hit 25 so im a lost cause!

Whatever job I go for I'm either over qualified or not qualified enough!

heh! yes it appears to be the way

up to 24 they are all over you..how about this..how about that? we can put you on this scheme maybe..or this one (admittedly they are mostly useless but they try)

25 its just...sign..and get the hell out my building!, all you folk in your early 20's i hope you get permanent work before your 25..as your on the sodding scrapheap by then!

uni..what a complete waste of time you were, im too old for most apprenticeships..im too overqualified to do anything remotely "junior" as they would rather get someone in whos 18 and pay them less..and i lack experience to do a job i "should" be doing...and this isnt even touching on the fact i dont have the balls to apply incase i get an interviews

life is great!

^Dunno if it's a load of rubbish this article, but it says lots of apprentices are over 25 now... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-16835753

But who could live on the piddly £2.60/hour that most of them offer anyway.

There's a hotel near me that's hiring again. The application form only has 3 questions so I think I'm supposed to write amazing essay like answers about how great I am***8230; ugh***8230;

I've tried looking at online job sites for part time jobs, they're all worthless or scams. 'get paid to take survey's' or 'earn £££s working from home'.

Gumtree's job section is so much worse, mostly just illiterate creeps:-
"...The role is simply to walk on me with your feet..." "...I can travel to make it easier for travelling..."

gumtree is the worst, pointless trying to find a job there. 95% of the jobs are charity fundraising or scams.

There was an ad on my local Gumtree offering £50 for 20 minutes of "foot photography" Very odd indeed.

My problem is I wish I had the balls to go into places and ask if they have vacancies. Or call them. But I can't.

i've given up trying to find work in this country but i am still applying for stuff, i think i enjoy inflicting emotional pain on myself

does anyone else hate trying to think up cover letters for jobs they have no experience doing? i have a cover letter i send for admin or customer service things but when it comes to stuff i actually want to do, for example care work, or even cleaning work, i can't think of anything to write. argh /rant

I have about 50 slightly different cover letters for different types of jobs. But it's basically just a load of guff about how much I want their lousy job because I'm an exceptionally amazing person... *yawn*

Care work seems to be in abundance where I live. Pretty much the only thing on the jobcentre website, but I just don't think I could do it. I think I'd find it too depressing

ive never actually sent one..

ive barely applied for anything, one i applied for i really wanted i emailed my CV to the company and then emailed a load of dribble about how i may not be up to the standard they were looking for but id quite happily work for free for a while to get up to scratch/or less money..or something

beg moar why dont you..i didnt even get a response, cocks

I've heard stories of people getting interviews after sending smart arse cover letters like making the first letter of each line say something funny or something to do with the position they are going for. If companies are hiring people because of things like that then I'm giving up, what a load of bollocks.

Some HR person or middle manager isn't going to get a bonus for taking on free labour, all they care about is getting someone good. Sell yourself even if you're not convinced!

twas a junior role at a small graphics design place doing joke items

and the wage depended on experience but yeah on reflection it probably wasnt wise

i have a huge fear of bullshitting about myself to sound better than i am, to somehow wing a job and then be found out by about 11am on day 1 that im shit and cant do it all and will be sacked!

..blah

Maybe he was monitoring her? Does sound strange.

A few months ago when I had my signing, the woman who I saw said something along the lines of "do you need the money to get hammered?" purely because I asked whether the account details they had of mine were right because my money hadn't gone through. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, didn't exactly make me angry but I was amazed, as if ALL job seekers spend the tiny amount of money they get on alcohol, absolutely disgusting, I told her i'd only been drunk six times before in my life.

Don't know what telling this story achieves but thought i'd tell it anyway.

probably monitoring her or a random "ill pick this member of staff...anddd..this client!"

I would also imagine if it was something to do with your personally they would have to notify you, infact come to think of it 1 time i was signing on another woman was next to her the entire time...although i remember the person doing my interview mentioned it for some reason...i believe it was because the other one was new and just getting a feel for things..or something innocent like that!
