If you have not seen it already, I highly recommend another hammer horror 'The Devil rides out'. Christopher Lee and Charles Gray in top form!

Yeah, I was on the hammer site the other day and noticed that one, I now have it in my collection. Will probably have a watch in the next couple of days. Christopher Lee is always a treat.

Doghouse - Lowest common denominator, laddy, Danny Dyer bullshit. I have absolutely no idea what possessed me to watch this misogynistic drivel. If your life consists only of booze, birds and a bit of a scrap I'm sure you'll love this toss, if not I'd give it a wide birth 2/10

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Good film but only for the character of Ceaser really well animated and emoted by Serkis, apart from that it was very mediocore, also lots of it made no sense ("One monkey escapes so lets cancel and entire drug line with limitless profit potential!", Canceled drug is still produced because the scientist steals it to save his father over a period of 5 years despite being cancelled?????, Why would someone who is so close to an Ape then go ahead with experimenting on them again? after experiments they kill and dissect them!) and it didn't tie in with the "Apes" films very well at all.

Watched 4 documentaries relating to the condition/origins of African people in Latin America - Dominican Republic, Haiti, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and Peru.

I would have liked to enjoy it more but I found the creator/host of the program had too much of an African-American bias, which rubbed me the wrong way a bit. I try to ignore bias anyway (to the best of my ability), so it was a very eye-opening and informative program nonetheless.

Lawrence of Arabia.

Uncompromisingly brilliant and the best film score of all time. They don't make 'em like they used to and that's a shame.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) 7.5/10

An enjoyable thriller, my only concern was with my copys subtitles, some of the English wasn't quite right and I did worry that some of the subtleties of the dialogue might have been lost in translation - I'll never know though

Take Shelter - 9/10. Loved this, a great story about dealing with the onset of mental health problems among other things.

Cemetery Man / Dellamorte Dellamore - 8/10

The Woman - 7/10

The Sitter - 3/10

Was okay, the funny bits were mainly when the children were on screen. Really strange in places like with all the body builders .

Sket - 3/10

Wasn't even so bad that it was funny , just seemed awful and pointless. Plus the girl group couldn't make up their mind if they wanted to be nice to the girl or mean. Good soundtrack though as always.

Retreat - Bloody Billy Elliot turns up at secluded island retreat where Cillian Murphy and his wife are trying to sort out their failing marriage. Billy Elliot tells them there's a killer virus sweeping the mainland and if they don't protect their house from infection, they'll die too. Is he telling the truth or just a complete ballet dancing mentalist? Pretty tight and enjoyable British thriller, good acting, small plot hole, but otherwise very watchable 6.5/10

The Chumscrubber - Decent satire of modern day suburbia where the parents don't listen to the kids and seem to think the answer to everything is pills. Satire is a little bit too obvious at times, but I still enjoyed this 6/10

Cemetary Junction - Easily Rickey Gervais's best film, enjoyable, though incredibly formulaic 6/10

The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009) 6/10

Another stylish thriller and the middle film from The Millenium Trilogy. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as the first film and I never really engaged or cared about the charterers this time around.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn - 5/10

Brilliant graphics, great to watch visually and quite creepy when you begin to watch the film. Although I did find myself drifting off a bit in the middle because the story line was weak. I think other characters out shined Tintin as they were really funny, where as Tintin is quite bland.

Mary and Max 9/10

I just watched this and thought it would be of special interest to people here. I can't remember anyone mentioning it though - I did a quick search and could only find one reference to it in this thread.

Mary & Max

It's an animation featuring two a friendship between two lonely people, one of whom has Asperger's Syndrome. Several of the minor characters have related social problems

It's lovely.

The trailer makes it look heavy on the poop jokes but it is quite sophisticated and very funny in a dark, Roald Dahl kind of a way.

I cried at the end - maybe it's not to watch if you are really down but it is ultimately uplifting.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 - 2/10

Worst one of them all, not a patch on the books obviously. It's such a shame because the first one is really good and they just went down hill, probably because they're all directed by different directors so they all seem disjointed.
It also seemed like all the actors were actually bored shooting this, apart from Taylor Lautner who was the only one that looked like he could act. There also seemed to be music in practically every scene, distracting.

Talking Wolves? Okay LOL looked and sounded so lame.
Birthing scene though woah.

Okay, one of my favourite films ever is Terminator 2: Judgement Day. I've been putting off watching Terminator 3 for 9 years. I decided to give it a go after watching the review on cinemamassacre.com. About halfway into it...the stream started skipping. Which was great. I'll give it another chance sometime. I know the action scenes are supposed to be fantastic. It started out okay but when Arnie puts on the strippers glasses I lost all hope.

Planet of the Apes (1968) - 8/10

Ah I have only seen bits and pieces of this film as a child but never actually watched the whole thing through (well that I remember ) and now I know why Tim Burton's remake gets so much, which I totally agree with

I think it would of been a pretty cool twist if I had watched it back then and not knew the ending I loved Charlton Heston's laugh.
