I use it, but mostly in a sarcastic/ironic sense :-)

It would be great if more people still spoke in the Queens English / RP but I think it's good too how the English language is always changing. I don't use awesome in place of yes either though, more in place of cool / amazing.

Let the awesomness continue

It slips out in conversation from time to time but I wish it wouldn't. It doesn't sound right coming from me. I'm more of a 'bloody marvellous' type of chap.

But according to Wikipedia the first example of combining the two words was in America about 100 years ago, so it's American. Not that it matters, if we share our manufactured products we can share our words!

So its not quite a new word in the full sense. I used to use it a bit when online never in real life though which is a bit funny.

I guess its a little snobbish or xenophobic towards Americans to make out that using the word makes you inferior to people who don't.

I love English (though, tbh I love all languages) but that's just silly.

Again, silly and naive. Languages are enriched by change, by taking on words from other peoples and places, by people playing with and being creative with their language.

The Queen's English, or RP, is merely one dialect. It's vaunted because of class issues, but other than being associated with the wealthy, there's nothing special about it.

I think I tend to gravitate to american culture and language more than british, maybe it's an effect of me spending so much time on the internet and playing games with americans. Either way there are so many things about british dialects that bother me more than american, there are a lot of british slang words that just make me shudder at the thought, like 'snog', ugh, that word is disgusting.
