^ corn beef! Amazing. I didn't know that was still a thing.

I'd like to see an unboxing (untinning) of a can of corn beef!

That's one of those tastes I can distinctly remember. I didn't ever like it.

^ I love cooking corn beef pasties, I went into Aldi on the way back from the doctors and corn beef if way cheaper there. I always remember going on holiday to Cornwall and my nan brought a tin of corned beef and had to open it with that key.

I’ve never tried beef hash but I do love to make a spicy pasty with it, my mom always used to complain about the size as I made them so big.

I do want to try it with the beef hash though, I will look for a recipe.

^ Corn beef pasta sounds really nice, corn beef is very good because you can make many dishes out if it, cornbeef and tomato sauce on bread is nice or with some spicy mexican rice.

^/^^ It makes me feel very sad to hear you both talking about not being here
I expect you youngsters to both outlive me and to find yourself some much deserved happiness in this life

Changing the subject, I like your latest Christmas decors Crafty. £1? What a bargain! Where do you keep them all though?

The latest thing I bought was to buy some hair straighteners - but they're rubbish. Now I remember why I threw the last ones away. For some reason clamping my damp hair between two scalding hot plates doesn't make me think of lustrous silky locks

^^ I think you're meant to use hair straighteners on dry hair, are you not? (I may be wrong, I'm no hair dresser!) I think I used to hear that women tend to blow dry their hair straight and then use the hair straighteners on it.

^^ I thought that too, Dougella, but the instruction book said something about towel drying the hair then applying the hair straighteners. I thought having shorter hair would be easier but it seems not. I'm a low maintenance person and really can't be arsed to mess around with my hair every morning. The new straighteners have already been condemned to the cupboard until my next big clear our. Thankfully they didn't cost much.

^ Oh, maybe different types of straighteners are used differently. I'm low maintanance person too, unfortunately I have high maintanance hair!

A second-hand tyre.

Bugger wouldn't repair a puncture because it was too near the outside curve and said the patch risks coming unstuck. I was doubtful but a repair costs £20 and a tyre £30, so.... It did have plenty of tread on it still and, of the four, it was my favourite (despite the slow puncture).

Yeah, dunno. He only mentioned a patch. I said would he do it and let's see whether it works and he said no, so getting a second opinion of another tyre was my only options. Didn't want to bother going elsewhere, so said put a new one on.

A patch does sound a bit risky, especially in hot weather with them cooling down at night too.

Last time I needed new tyres (two) after getting my car serviced and an MOT, I got home to look at the advisory notes and then saw the bill! The mechanic hadn't charged me for the two new tyres!

I rang him to tell him and he thought it was hilarious as they're a tyre specialist garage. He's a good man. He's often given me freebies on little things that I've needed doing.

Maybe, though he said it was because of the flexing movement in that area of the tyre that would risk the undoing. Lol, he discovered the valve was leaking and replaced that too, so it wasn't just the puncture at fault. The actual puncture was tinny tiny - i would've been fine with taking a risk on the patch.

Aw, nice one. The world needs more of these happenings.

An online application for £159 to local council applying to have our dropped curb widened. I'd like to get our driveway widened from a single to a double driveway. Bit of a wierd goal in life but I've always wanted a house with a double drive it's taken 12 years from first property purchase but we're almost there.
