I want to give up. I hate the feeling of things always being bad, but tolerably bad, like a constant nausea that you just have to live with. I want some way of metaphorically sticking my fingers down my throat.

Like I've had all my enthusiasm and motivation sucked out of me and poured down the drain.
I feel like going back to sleep in complete absence of anything else to do with my life.

@ Percy It sounds serious if you feel you might need to go to Casulty
I hope that whatever is wrong can be treated. Look after yourself

Feeling like every bit of energy and motivation has been sucked out of me and I could sleep forever. Now, why can't I feel this tired in the middle of the night?

Not great, had a bad weekend. This washing machine business took the whole thing over, so didn't get to row or play my game. Things are also still not sorted as it turns out we have an extra shallow washing machine, so I have to cancel the one I ordered and find another, however there are basically none that fit my requirements, so I'm really going to have to settle for less. That irks me, as does the fact that this pipe is leaking and that it will cost a plumber who knows how much, as I can't fix that either.

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through a particularly tough time right now Percy. I hope posting here brings you just a little support and comfort. Take care x

Thanks Melangell, I'll pass it on

As you know, or may very soon know, as a mum to a teenager you are always treading an extremely fine line between interfering and nagging and showing that you want the best for them and trust them to independently make the right choices. I seem to be falling into the former camp at the moment

Unfortunately due to the recent suggestions that exam standards were being dampened down they've now made some of them ridiculously hard. A non academic like me wouldn't have stood a chance if I'd been preparing to take my year 11 exams now.

Quizzes with prizes? Lol, what do you suggest?
I'm afraid something like a bag of gobstoppers won't cut it these days.
I think only the prospect of winning a Lamborghini or a pot of money to the equivalent of the car might be enough of an incentive to a 16 year old boy who is adverse to revising to pick up his textbooks (accept they don't even have textbooks these days - it's all online videos)

It's been bad for about the last year but it often goes through very rough patches.

Funny I swore I'd never come back here but for now this place is keeping me distracted for the time being, at least.

I want to be the sort of person who can have hope for better things and have the motivation to make positive changes, but I self-harmed last night and it was the most free and content I've felt in months. Nothing good or wholesome or positive even comes close to giving me that feeling. Like, not even a dot on the horizon.

Thanks, Johnny.

I might try to get my brother over here for the football tomorrow evening. I really need to start trying to get out of the house though and do things elsewhere.

@ Rocket Spud Loneliness is a real killer isn't it Trouble is, it's not just a case of having people around you, it's having the right people around you. I hope your friends here can go just a little way to helping you cope with these feelings. Oh and enjoy the football with your brother tomorrow

@ Merrit I'm sorry that you were experiencing so much emotional pain that you felt that the only temporary release from this was to self harm. I don't know what to say, apart from please don't hurt yourself too much because....well, you're one of the good guys in this sorry old world

@ anxiouslondoner Tell that Depression to bugger off and start bothering someone else for a change - I have one or two arrogant people in the public eye in mind

@ Mo Yep, it's distressing to see Norte Dame up in flames. I know it's only bricks and mortar so to speak, and hopefully no one has been injured or worse, but like you say that's 850 years worth of History and Art being destroyed and it's irreplaceable.

The latest news reports are saying that while the spire and roof has collapsed the main structure and the two bell towers have been saved. Fingers crossed, they will be able to restore Norte Dame to it's former glory

Very sad. Fortunately this mornings news says most of it has been saved and Macron is vowing to rebuild.
