Back for the (10)1st time!

Hello past and future friends!

Hope you're all doing well. I'm pretty much just Matt, 35-years-old from London somewhere. I was here previously under another user name (Anxious Adam Black) but not long enough for anyone to realise, just flitted in and out really.

So I've been suffering with social anxiety and all sorts for as long as I can remember and it was around 2010 that I decided that I'll finally start to do something about it. I've done all sorts here and there for well over a decade and, while not completely cured, have just about stumbled into a place where I can say I'm at least better off mentally now than where I was 13 years ago. However, I'm not quite where I want to be. In fact, I'm a long way off, but I am working on it.

Why am I here? Good question. I want to help people, but at the same time I also want to be helped. In general, I would like to start making more of an effort to start communicating (and maybe even connecting) with others, and where better a place to start than here?

So I hope to be on here as much as I can manage to either give advice, take some advice, or just shoot the spit about whatever. Feel free to message or reply to this thread if there's anything you want to say or ask or anything really, otherwise thanks for reading all of this (any of this, really) and I hope to speak as many of you as I can soon.

Funny, I saw a thread the other day with a post by an "Anxious Adam Black" and thought that was a cool name. stuck in my head!

Welcome back Matt I hope the timing is right for you this go round and you get a lot from this site. It does seem a lot quieter than 10 years ago but I still think you get valuable content and replies here, just not quite so quickly as before.

Yeah I did contemplate returning with my old username but, to be honest, I just really didn't like the username anymore and felt weird using it funnily enough

Wow, didn't know this username was as memorable as it was. It's almost like SA really, making you believe things that aren't true.

Ooh I'd love to live in London for a bit just to have experienced it. Do you find many social opportunities (or social opossums as my autocorrect put!)?

Also what a great attitude to have towards SA

I'll be honest, London has it's moments but it's not all it's cracked up to be. I lived here pretty much all of my life so maybe that's why I'm a bit jaded with London. I live near the outskirts now. Don't know about opossums but there are definitely social leeches. I joke (or do I?), whatever you're looking for in London, you'll pretty much find. Just need to take advantage of it more myself.
