Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum but I'm not new to social anxiety. I'll keep this brief as this could turn into a really long essay. I first started getting the symptoms of social anxiety when I was 13 and it has slowly grown over time and has had severe impacts on my life (I'm 24 now). It has pretty much destroyed my life. Among other things its has left with no social life, no self confidence, destroyed my dreams of becoming a doctor, caused me to drop out of uni once and left me severely depressed. I also have a bad case of OCD which doesn't help the matter at all. About a year ago I finally forced myself (I was very ashamed) to go to my GP over my problems and since then I have been seeing the local mental health nurse (currently doing IPT but it isn't helping much unfortunately

) and been put on antidepressants. i really wish I got help for these issues so much earlier. I also wish I that I signed up to this forum earlier. Anyway, that's my story in very brief. Thanks for providing this great service and I hope to get to know you all.
