Have felt crap all day - went to see about some voluntary gardening work and the place was nice but I just stood there like a moronic rock in a hoodie. Actually quite cheerful this evening as I have found this board and volunteered for a meetup

Cool!

I used to really be into graffiti, but SA and agoraphobia put a stop to it (just when I was starting to get the hang of thing!)

But it got me into stuff like screen printing/printmaking/vector graphics, that has been a really useful skill!

But back on topic.......The 30+ how are you feeling thread

I'm feeling really confused on what I should be wearing!!!!

I spent my 20's in hooded tops, Ts, baggy trousers round my ass and baseball caps, then I lost 6 years to Agoraphobia and SA and now I find myself at 33 getting ready to go back into society with no clue on what threads I should be rocking?!?!?!?

I refuse to wear a baseball cap after 30, and just wish I had someone I could run outfits past!

So many question....is normal to have developed a penchant for brown Harris tweed herringbone jackets, what's the consensus on cordary, what is with all the tight trousers and wearing two belts and when did guys start using GHDs?

^Cool, yeah I know what you mean about anxieties putting a stop to it.

Regarding clothes, there's a Mens clothes thread in the Lounge.

I felt buoyant on the way home, sun was out and I'd got through the day ok but now I'm back it's all a bit meh as I've got nowhere to go and no one to do anything with so the depression is kicking in a bit.

Not sure I like the summer anymore. It is so, bright hot and sunny today, and I am in the mood, where I would like it to be cold, dark and stormy. It would be perfect, if today, no one was around, but that is never going to happen. I may start only going out in the evenings. Sorry to be so depressing, but I just don't like summer today.
My SA is almost completely gone now after 6 months of working with an excellent therapist with ninja like CBT skills! (only downside is I had to go private, but was well worth it).

Im still a full blown agoraphobic hermit that has mind melting panic attacks 100 yards from my house .....but each week I do a little better, and its no longer triggered by other people around me, or interactions with them.
(But most of all, I really count myself lucky that I've never suffered depression, and have managed day to day really well despite the SA and agoraphobia, something I don't think I could have done with depression)

Thanks to working on the SA, im letting people back into my life.

Also starting to stress about buying new cloths for going out, so that signals an improvement in the agoraphobia!

It is a good sign that you are thinking about buying new clothes.
I had an ongoing nightmare with the Mental Health team down here in sussex, having to wait years for a referrals that ended up just being a receptionist with zero training who had just been promoted to a "Star worker" (can't remember what that was an acronym for) who came to help me with exposure therapy, but was woefully clueless doing more harm then good.

I picked my current therapist from http://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/ and was liberiating to pick someone with the skill sets I felt were needed!

Feeling relaxed but only due to my temporary ability to distance myself from the world around me.

I feel incredibly lonely, what friends and family I did have don't seem to want to keep in contact or are too busy and have been for quite some time now and I don't have a clue why or what it was that I had done wrong and I wish things were different.

Feeling really anxious and edgy for some reason. Could be because husband works shifts and this is his long weekend at home and even though he doesn't pressure me (in fact he is just happy if I am o.k), I feel I should keep busy to justify my existence. SAUK is so addictive though - my household duties have been neglected lol

I agree. the 30th birthday was horrible. Everyone coming over saying "you are officially old now", lots of sarcastic stuff like that. I also had "Better get on with it then" comments.

Only if you focus on the negatives. I admit that i regret my 20s. I wasted them waiting for things to happen, and they never do, everything has to be created or done through ourselves. Unless we are lucky enough to exist in a really friendly environment where opportunity occurs, otherwise you have to go out and chase success in every detail. Which is hard. Some people have genetic advantages, personality advantages and it's not easy.

You are 30 but you can still sort of fit into to the mid to late 20s category for a while. And people don't start to age that much until late 30s, sometimes later, unless you really let yourself go early and just stop caring.

So stay positive.

Anything you want to achieve can only be done through repetition. practicing it as much as you can. Achievements never fall out of the sky.

Like having a day off from putting any effort in today. Will get back on track tomorrow.

30 is not old. In another ten years you'll be looking back and thinking how young you were/looked!

Hi Pinkroses, sorry to hear you so low. How do you feel today? I know when I am feeling really low and have spent a few days on my own I can sometimes just feel down about everything in my life. Have you spoken to your friends or family since your post? It probably isn't anything you have done? Hope things have got a bit better anyway.
