joined a gym!!

joined a gym last week, but im pleased to say its goin really well n im overcomin the shyness and attempting to try everythin out...even went to a step class today in a room full of mirrorsssssss ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Really well done. Stick at it and you will reap great rewards. I've been going to the gym for a couple of years now, and deal with it just fine. I did a few classes with mirrors too- that was slightly scary!!

@ Remus, the same happened to me, me and a mate used to go four times a week, but he moved down south, to live near the sea, as its what he always wanted to do, (fair play), I've got so much out of going to the gym in term of confidence etc, that I was determined to keep going on my own, I'm only going 2-3 times a week at the moment, but its ok, I miss having a training partner though.

I Usually go about 10 in the morning and its pretty quiet, I'm a member of the YMCA gym, and theres seems to be more of a mix of people, ie old, you still get the occassional "Grunter", but I just ignore them.

Good for you. I joined a gym last January and have attended the grand total of zero times. This is not because of shyness - it’s primarily laziness, although I do always stand at the back in classes. I'm going to go....soon. Good luck with it, anyway.

Gym's can be intimidating places for even the non-SA out there so i'd say you've successfully made a significant step.
Looking and feeling fitter breeds confidence too, so i'm sure your efforts will pay real dividends. Keep it up and well done once again.
