In vaguely unrelated news D, I wasn't overly impressed with the equal opportunities available on a couple of recently made Xmas movies I caught on Channel 5 yesterday. It seems that if you’re black, Asian or other and you live in a town called Christmas (or similar) you get to be seen in the background of the shot, pass the white leads on the street or in office corridors or smile, gush and coo at the white couple or white family happy ending while remaining mute throughout. Maybe I caught a couple of bad examples of the genre, but it certainly was a case of ‘Dreaming of a White Christmas’ from where I was sat.

They're all bad examples, that's why there are so many bingo cards and drinking games based around the cliches

Yes you are right but Hallmark have over the past year or so started making Christmas movies with black lead characters. I have a few of the DVDs. What i would personally like to see is a Christmas movie that features same sex characters in a romantic role. Not in a sleazy way or your typical Gay stereotypes. I just think it's about time.

^ I'm surprised they haven't since they're churning out like 70 of them a year or something. Maybe it's because their target audience is 50+ year old Republican women and they'd be against watching anything with gay lead characters.

Both your posts sum up exactly what I was thinking while watching - would they ever risk potentially alienating their typical audience, perfectly summed up by Jen with some trailer trash thrown in, by going for a gay relationship...

Goodness, I really wish I could've made a post here 18 months ago

There was the start of a major change in my life then and for the first 11 months I had many many breakdowns and struggles and self loathing including being ready to give up.

After that point, I think that being stared at every single day and receiving abuse all day, every day online, being told that everyone thought I was disgusting and a joke and then...

It happened. A year in things started to change and I could look forward to a normal future and that's all I've ever wanted. To be happier in myself and to have a calm peaceful life.

^ Yeah!! On Amazon Prime. It should come out at some point this year. I cannot wait.

But part of me is sceptical because Amazon Prime originals are usually a bit...naff.

It would be awesome to live in New Zealand because they did a recruitment drive for extras to play orcs. I would have loved to have done that. Wouldn't have needed much time in the make up chair either

^ It'll be set way before The Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy.

It's been confirmed that there will be six serieseses of it. So hopefully that means the narrative has been carefully mapped out.

Please don't mess this up, Amazon Prime... or I'll buy a book from WHSmith.

Hehe aw that's sweet of you both - I truly would love nothing more than to run around pretending to be an orc for a living though

Damn, that's a shame that you don't have Prime. I'm sure Percy could act out each episode for you using sock puppets.

When it's open up again, going to the main train station near me and having a nice Costa latte or cappuchino with a muffin and then picking up some food treats in Marks and Spencers there. There was a deal in Costa's online where if you bought a £20 gift voucher they topped it up by £5 so I have bought one for myself. Hope springs eternal!

Series 3 of Pose!

Think both are released in America first though, so will have to avoid all the spoilers. Eeek.
