I can't name names for legal reasons, but a large online company has put me out of business.

Any suggestions are welcome!

^There's a lot of vacancies for shopping mall Santas this time of year. Do you think you'd be any good at that?

^^ TBH, FC, your business model was flawed from the start. Where was the path to profitability? You can't just pursue market share at all costs, and if anything your market share has been static or declining lately. Brand recognition is high amongst young children but tailing off when they get older, claiming you "aren't real".
But you can't run a business on goodwill alone, and sponsorship deals with Coca Cola. Also there have been concerns about exploitation of regional labour laws and the "elves" (or "short persons on the magicalness spectrum" as they prefer to be known) are threatening to unionize.
My advice is to spin off a green startup firm with that flying reindeer technology before the competition figure it out, with some green transport funding from government grants, and get out of the present distribution business. It's too competitive and margins are too narrow for a small family-run operation.

Getting pished off with my job at the moment. Too much going on and not enough people and brown stuff is gonna hit the fan when we slip on delivering something end of Feb. Keen to move on elsewhere but need to get some certification sorted, no time to progress that and I hate interviews. Plus a 3 month notice period.. only had 1 month in the past so feels like handcuffs

^^ hope you find something more rewarding and enjoyable, anewyear. I always tell myself that the hell of a half day interview trumps the hell of remaining somewhere that makes you unhappy.

Does the three month notice period affect your ability to get a job somewhere else? Or is it a case of negotiating start dates?

@Laurel is there anything in particular that you're looking for?

No, I'm struggling mentally, but I've spent brief periods researching. I've also been doing these exercises for inspiration, childhood play to try and find little things that give you a certain satisfaction that might translate to workplace, this one lead me to some surprising careers I would never have considered because I don't have the innate talent for them, not sure what to do with that but insightful. What gives you a little twinge of career envy (this one is past envy because I don't care anymore, but I remembered one today). Also which sort of occupations are expected by your parents and which aren't, which is something I've thought of before.
