... have you met? I feel rather late to the party, it's kinda like turning up and everyone already knows each other and i'm just there trying to insert myself into conversations

So how many people specifically from here have you met irl? It seems like most of you have met at least one other member, would that be accurate?

I went to a lot of group meets back in 2001-2004 met quite a lot then , most dont even post now. So now Im billy no mates here too.

JD90 you couldn't be further from the truth, there are some that have attended meets or have a good online correspondence, however most people have not, and new people join on a daily basis, nobody should feel nervous about submitting their first or any post, we have all be there. Think about it if everyone stopped submitting their thoughts, this site wouldn't be the success it is. So you just post away even if it is just to get anything off your chest.

I met one, but i think she was from the SAS (Social Anxiety Support) forum, but might have been this one, that was quite a while back.

I couldn't agree more Les.

I went a long to the large London AGM for SA sufferers when this forum was first up and running donkeys years ago but I think sadly most, maybe all, of those people moved on from the forum long ago. I am still regularly in touch with a lady I met at the AGM but we only see each other once in a blue moon. We did attend each others weddings which was nice. I haven't been on any meet up’s for many years and I very much doubt I ever will again as I’d feel embarrassed being surrounded by youngsters. Oh, and in more recent years I met a lovely poster here who I’m now married to.

One person I've met up with is still active on here. Then there's at least another four members who no longer post that I've met up with several times.

Dozens over the last 17 odd years

My geographical location means it tends to be Scots members who I meet up with (in Scotland), but I have met up with other members over the years in Sheffield, Nottingham and London.

I meet up with some of the Glasgow based members a few times a year, and have done a bit of hiking in the mountains with 1 or 2 others over the years as well.

I haven’t met anyone from here. I haven’t been a regular poster. Not sure I’d be brave enough to go to a meet even if they still have them. I’ve talked on the phone to a few lovely people from another forum though. But they live too far away to meet them. And a couple left the forum.

When was the peak time for this place? I've seen some people saying it's quiet now, but it doesn't seem that bad to me so far.

I've been to a few meet ups with other message boards. People don't seem to do it too much these days though. One place I was on years ago had them all the time, sometimes people would fly to other countries to attend. A few of them ended up getting married eventually too.

For me, I would say 2013-2016 ish. It was much busier than this and it was difficult to keep up with all of the posts.

This place was always really busy circa 2008-2011 (a LOT busier than it is these days) with lots of colourful characters posting, many of whom have long since disappeared.

Not that I'd know of course, as I only joined in May 2018.
