Re: Small things that make you smile
I got an email getting saying my car insurance is refunding everyone £25 because of Coronovirus.
Not a great amount but £25 is £25 |

^ Our household is getting £50, as we have a multicar policy. I'm not really doing any less driving at the moment as I'm having to go to work everyday as usual and the shops on a Saturday (hate the queuing).

Re: Small things that make you smile
I've managed to order my favourite beer online. It'll hopefully give me something to do during my holiday next week as there isn't much to do other than getting rat-arsed.

My two guinea pigs and their silly antics. They are one of the few things that bring me any happiness.

my dogs
cora (rescue from cypress) springs about like a newborn lamb when were getting ready for a walk and the way she runs like a demented rabbit when shes out running free in the park. Trigger (rescue from dogs trust) his mad ted heath eyebrows and the way he sleeps on his back with all 4 legs in the air I wish I could swap places with them |

Re: Small things that make you smile
we had 3 but lost Rufus (hence the name) last year - he was great and our first ever dog - he was a rescue as well (seeing a trend) and was scared of his own shadow when we first got him., bless
Sorry to here about your staffie, they become part of the family dont they. |

Re: Small things that make you smile
I had a rescue Staffie cross, about 15 years ago, was the softest dog you could ever meet. He had an ongoing kidney problem from birth, which we helped him live with, eventually his kidneys failed completely when he was eleven and we had to have him put to sleep.

Re: Small things that make you smile
I've not been in this thread for a while and all this talk of dogs has made what I've come to post seem totally inadequate; I don't have pets because of my lifestyle, it wouldn't be fair - I'm away a lot and have no family to look after them when I'm not here, but I love animals and spend a lot of time with other people's pets, given the opportunity.
Anyway, the small thing which made me smile is that I've just arrived home from my travels and received a message via booking.com from the lady who owns the apartment where I've been staying, thanking me for leaving the place in excellent condition, saying that she didn't have to do much when she came into clean (all I did was strip the bed and wipe down a few surfaces) and telling me that I'd be welcome back any time (at least, I think that's what it says, it's in Polish!); I know that part of the reason is to get repeat business, but it's not usual on booking.com (unlike on airbnb where the owner reviews the guest as well as the guest reviewing the owner), but it was such a lovely, friendly message. That wasn't the only lovely message I got either - I found a visitor message on my profile (after I had a little wobble on here just over a week ago) which I really appreciated, from someone whose posts I have always respected and found helpful. |

Re: Small things that make you smile
This evening I heard a cat meowing, and it was standing on my windowsill
hoping to come in. So, it came and cuddled me for about an hour, and then decided to leave. It really cheered me up! I’m not sure what it’s intentions were (probably food), but maybe it just wanted a cuddle. (I didn’t feed it anything, as obviously it would encourage it to come back too much, and might have special dietary needs) |

Maybe if the cat had a good time it'll return. I had this when I was a kid, sometimes the same cat would drop by and play with for a bit. Then he would jump over the fence and go. We never fed it, but it was an irregular visitor for years. You could never tell when he might turn up, but we were always very happy when he did! |

Re: Small things that make you smile
Yeah, in a albeit constructive, positive way rather than a negative way I guess.
Words and reactions do get to us, even if we like to put up a strong front. But what's important is how we take them on I guess. Our perspective. |
