Hope you're okay, TDP. I hope you have somewhere else where you can talk with people about MH. It's really challenging to try to deal with everything on your own.

The meets have dried up like a… something really dry. Please don’t take it personally, Morti. Maybe leave it up and then more people decide to go closer to the time?

Are you down in London anyway or travelling down especially?

They really dried up years ago, except for increasingly pretty rare occasions. Anyone who, like me, did not make a real effort to keep in close touch with people via other channels, so that you could perhaps keep on seeing some of them after they stopped meeting through this site, may regret it. I should have exchanged e-mails, mobile numbers, or something. Maybe the people in chat still do meets, I don't know about those. Have a feeling they were only up north.

If not enough people want to go to the picnic, possibly I may have been proved right that, like I posted a while ago, Covid has put paid to it. The 2019 one was cancelled, I went to the last pre-Covid one in 2018, there were a reasonable number of people there.
Anyway yes Morti please leave the thread up, you never seemed to me like the type to take it personally. More people might decide to go closer to the time, think that's happened before. I was thinking about it. But TBQH it would be good to try somewhere else after so many years, maybe Richmond Park got a bit stale.
Bushey Park maybe?

Hello, I was wondering if you can help me please. For the last 5 years I have been courting one of your Moderators. At first it was just a bit of fun, but then things soon escalated between us. I think the turning point was when we introduced a French Maid outfit into our relationship.

Which brings me to the heart of the matter. Especially as I consider SAUKMods to be the Head of the Forumhold.

*Clears throat*

I'm planning to ask your Moderator Genovese to marry me and I am hoping for your blessing. I also want to assure you that my intentions are honourable. Well, more or less. He will of course want for nothing. Well again, more or less.

Then once the confetti has cleared, I look forward to consummating our relationship. Which reminds me, it is ok for me to use Genovese's truncheon? I did check the forum rules on this, but for some reason it doesn't cover this topic. So it might be worth updating the rules?

Anyway, thank you very much for your time. I will of course take your no reply, and lack of trimming, as your blessing. Although a teasmade wedding gift from yourselves wouldn't go amiss.

I also want to add that Nescafe Gold Blend and Tate and Lyle sugar are quite a combo!

Please invite us all to the wedding. And Genovese promised to pay me a tenner if I go.

Although it's probably best not to show this invitation to Genovese. Especially as I haven't proposed to him yet!

Thank you so much for pointing this out, Laurel. I was rushed when I made that invitation. Which is why I forget to add my price tag. Which includes a lot more zeros of course! Although I would be willing to drop Genovese's price tag to £5. And even then I do believe there is still plenty of wiggle room left for negotiation.

^ does the image exceed the maximum aspect ratio of 180 by 180 pixels? It could be that which is triggering the error message.

^ thank you.

Here’s an idea. How about splitting the news and current affairs thread so there is a separate chess thread and closing that? Then the news thread can carry on. Although it’s is kind of a nicer vibe with it closed. Just thinking because it’s a popular thread.

When is the news and current affairs coming back? I don't know how that kicked off. I thought I posted quite a tame comment on it.

Thank you for allowing me to return; I apologise for the abrupt manner in which I left 16 months ago, but (for reasons which I won't reveal here) it was unavoidable at the time (and I'd also like to thank you for your swift action at that time, the benefits of which you will probably never fully realise).
