Apparently the average spend on housing, fuel and power per household is ï¿½76 a week. Per household. However, the small print reveals it doesn't include mortgage interest payments. That's a bit stupid. And I suppose a lot of people only have maintenance or a service charge and no rent or mortgage.

Apparently the average household spend on rent alone per week once you've ignored housing benefit is ï¿½36. We might as well kill ourselves now, as my old housemate used to say. Where I live anywhere other than an HMO is over ï¿½100 a week.

But the kicker is, I also spend less than ï¿½76 a week if I count as a household. I'm not sure I do, since I live with a parent. One day I will emerge butterfly-like from my cocoon of not counting into single adult 'poverty'. One day once I have enough money to be poor. Hopefully it will be 'poverty' and not actual poverty.

That Yorkshire puds were originally a starter. Cause they were cheap to make they were given to folk to take the edge of hunger whilst waiting for there meal and also fill them up so they'd have less meat on there plates.
