You can get an iphone 5s for £150, an iphone 5 or 5c for around £100. These models will run nice and fast.

If your not into the iphone thing, then there are lots of nice.

The Huawei Ascend Y550 had a pretty nice interface, it really stood out when I tested it.

Any of the stock android phones lile Moto G will be good.

My favourite are Samsungs. I like the A3, A5, Alpha, S4.. maybe you could afford an S5.

I had an S4 mini for a while too. Actually it's still in my draw. They are nice phones. The s5 mini is more or less the same as an iphone 5/5s in size, very pocketable.

Motorola Moto G is within your price range and is a fairly competent and easy to use smartphone.

I have a Motorola Moto 4G.
I really can't be doing with high tech stuff and I find this phone really easy to use. When I bought it it was considered to be the best budget smartphone on the market.

Does the Moto 4G come with Sim or is it Sim free? I'd prefer the former.

Same here, I love it, it's excellent for the price (I got it at £150 from tesco), highly recommended

Would be my recommendation too. You're getting a really nice phone as good as some £200+ phones for around £140 now if you shop around.

If I had to upgrade myself I would go with that. Although it's not going to be as user friendly as you want, but you will learn how to use it in no time. iphone isn't that much easier tbh.
