How has the internet changed our perception of music? How does having always available music make us view it?

I'm listening to some 90's dnb but know back in the mid 90's it wouldn't have been perceived the same way I am perceiving it as you would need to buy a tape/CD/Mp3 for it and then even if it is still underground now, back then it would be much more underground and sound rarer as you would really have to be into dnb to search for such stuff in record stores. And then music production software/hardware was much less accessible which would make it sound more novel in a way I think.

Sorry never saw your question.

I've used this before to repair holes in walls.

As far as bolting things to wall Fischer fixings are more for fixing in upvc windows and door.

Raw bolts are stronger as they expand into the brickwork though might not be suitable for your shelf brackets
.

https://www.screwfix.com/p/rawlplug-...m-5-pack/60234

Failing that some 4 inch screws and brown plugs
Cheers BFG, and I've only just seen your response. It's back on the wall, let's hope it stays there. I couldn't use rawlbolts as the head needs to be countersunk to the steel bracket for clearance reasons. I used the Fischer fittings in the end.. they were labelled as suitable for various substrates including brick but the main attraction was they being 120mm and slim enough gauge that I only needed to slightly increase the hole size on the steel plate.

Bit concerned that only 2 of the 6 screws were 100% tightened.. the others were still spinning a bit when fully screwed in. That rawl resin looks to be exactly what I needed though for the filling work.. I'll note that for next time. Thanks for getting back to me

Can anyone recommend a good book, website, YouTube etc. for air fryer recipes? Preferably vegan, vegetarian or fish?

Is there a reason why I can sleep for 10 hours and not be in any particular rush for the toilet when I get up, but if I nap for an hour on the sofa I feel like my bladder's about to pop?

Is this what middle age is going to be like, non-stop bizarre toilet anomalies?

*sigh* I think I'm just going to start wearing nappies. I've got enough loft space to fling them up into for a good couple of years before the council gets involved.

I don't know where to post this and don't want to make it a thread.

I was thinking of taking up swimming (it's just a back of the head, New Year's Eve thought that might not come into fruition because swimming actually freaks me out because of irrational fears around swallowing other people's floating snot).

Anyway - I'd have to swim with a float. I don't mind other people thinking I'm an idiot for doing so, but I'm just wondering when is the best time to do this? I'm guessing it would be annoying to swimmers in lane swimming time and it would be too busy during non lane swimming time?

During lane swimming time there are fast, medium, slow lanes. You'd just pop into whichever one felt appropriate; it wouldn't matter at all if you had a float. I reckon most people would just think "nice one" for getting yourself there and into the water

Nobody would give a monkeys they'll just go into the next lane along if you're slower than them.

Thank you, both! Yeah, I’m not in the least bit bothered by what anyone thinks about me using a float. It’s more about getting in the way! That’s amazing to know that there are different types of lanes for lane swimming.

What I really need is my own pool. That would be ideal, really.

Could any South Londoners please tell me if there's a good place to park the car in Brixton for an evening event (from, say, 6-ish to around 11 or so)? I've looked, but there don't seem to be many car parks around there. What's the on-street parking like? Postcode is SW2 1DF if that helps.

Many thanks, and sorry to ask stupid questions, but I'm a mere carrot cruncher with cow shit on my boots!

^ CBD? Although it can interact with other medications so you should check with your doctor if you're on any medications at all and probably not risk it if you are.

@Tubbs
Sorry I don't drive so I'm not very knowledgable about parking in the area. You could probably find a residential street nearby where it's possible to park on the road without a permit, but also be careful to avoid anywhere looking too dodgy or your car might not be in the same condition when you return.
Hope that helps?

@tubbs I used to park in Richmond ncp then get tube to central London areas. Driving in Central London sucks, only time I've ever enjoyed it was in a flat bed beat up transit van as everyone kept out of my way with their shiny posh cars.

FWIW if the event is on a Friday or Saturday then the Victoria line to Brixton runs all night as part of the Night Tube.

Not the CBD part, that's the bit that's calming and pain relieving etc. (It's more complicated than that, but on a basic level.)

Tried cbd oil for sciatica it got rid of the pain but had some very odd side effects. I wouldn't recommend anything linked to cannabis including cbd oil as its so unregulated you never know what strength you're getting.

Yeah, it is possible to get both CBD and cannabis based medicine prescribed by private clinics now that is regulated but it's expensive.

Ah thanks, but our trip to Brixton was two weeks ago now! Managed to find some free on-street parking 5 minutes walk away in the end, and the Tubbsmobile (17 year old beaten up Kia Picanto) didn't get nicked or vandalised, result!

Hello

Is anyone able to recommend a car tyre pumper upper?

Every time I go to the garage their air pressure machine isn't working and so I think it's time to get one.

I tried lots of 12 volt plug in ones they were all rubbish kept blowing fuses or had unreliable non accurate guages so I bought a decent foot pump.

Probably not the suggestion you were looking for

I've bought 2 Ring tyre pumps, both work well,
I gave one to a friend as her tyres were often tricky,

You just set the pressure you want, start your car and plug in to any 12v part of you car,...
It pumps it up then cuts off automatically when it reaches pressure,
They're small and compact and not too fiddly or anything.

I'd definitely recommend them.
I bought my first one over 12 years ago and it's still working away fine,
I then bought myself the more updated digital one.

^ A tip for using them, keep your engine ticking over when your using so that it doesn't drain the battery. I have one if its going to be on for more than a couple of minutes to get the pressure up I just leave the engine idling, so that it draws power from the alternator.
