Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someone?
Like, for example, seeing someone you know in a shop/restaurant or street or something, and even though they're good people, you decided to wait or hide until they leave so you won't meet/talk with them?

It's never happened to me, my issue is that I don't notice people and they approach me before I've registered their presence, usually accusing me of ignoring or avoiding them. I can imagine that I would have done it in the past though, I used to find all human contact terrifying.

^ did you put a slice of pineapple on him?
Yep, to get out of going on a night out. We were all waiting for the bus to go into town and when the bus arrived I hid in a bush as everyone else got on the bus and I just stayed there until the bus left. |

Re: Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someon
I can't think of any recent occasions. Although there was that time when I took refuge in a bus station toilet. That wasn't fun! I can still remember the smells! And the reason why I endured 15 minutes of unimaginable stench was because I didn't have the strength to chat with my incredibly chatty neighbour! Although it turned out that it was all for nothing! Because when I finally left my foul smelling sanctuary, my neighbour (aka my kryptonite) was still waiting for the bus! Then on the bus journey home with my neighbour, I started to have fond memories of that putrid smelling sanctuary!
Anyway, this post has given me an appetite for dinner! Which includes nibbles! Try again tomorrow! |

Re: Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someon
^ I had the dubious pleasure of Leeds bus station last year. The toilets were utterly disgusting And Leicester bus station (St Margaret's) had a drunk man shouting at random strangers. You really should stop doing that, Merritt
I've done all the usual SA avoidance stuff, like pretending not to see people in shops/the street, etc. Also made a lot of lame excuses to avoid socialising. |

Preach, Lee! Although if you spend 10 minutes with my chatty neighbour, then that bus station bog will seem like a tropical paradise! You might even convince yourself that you are hearing the sounds of a tropical thunderstorm! When in reality it's probably the sounds of someone who has violent diarrhea!
Anyway, I've suddenly got an appetite for nibbles again! I will definitely try again tomorrow! |

Re: Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someon
I'm extremely avoidant, so I'm pretty good at this. Quite a few times I've turned all my lights off to pretend I'm not in if I suspect someone is going to come round.

Re: Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someon
These posts are making me giggle. Especially Biscuits hiding in a bush!! What did they say when you met them again? Unless you didnt!?
I have avoided a senior colleague when I was in my first job as a radiographer. She lives locally and I just couldnt face her because she was so bossy at work and I didnt know how to relate to her outside of work! So I kind of kept moving between the ailes..so fearful of her spotting me! It seems silly now but I was genuinely scared |

Re: Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someon
^ well, we’d only just met the night before in a bar and they invited me over to their place to go out the next night (that night being when I went in the bush). I just assumed because they didn’t really know me that they didn’t notice or thought I’d gone off with others. There were about 8 or so of them. It was freshers week, so pretty busy. They can’t have thought that strangely of me because they asked me to move in with them a few weeks later when one of their house mates moved out.

Re: Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someon
Some neighbours were chatting outside, selfishly stopping me from leaving the house. How dare they!
So, I walked to the bottom of the garden and climbed over the fence to use the footpath. I may have teared my trousers a bit, and hurt my crown jewels, but it was worth it!* * not really, I felt quite silly afterwards. They’re nice people too. Don’t really understand why I did it! Just wasn’t in the mood for talking |

Re: Have you ever done something really pathetic to avoid meeting/encountering someon
I hate to admit that when my dad came to my house once having carried a big set of treble ladders about half a mile and banged on my front door and kept loudly shouting my name up towards my bedroom window,
It was all so loud and conspicuous that I just cowered on my bedroom floor and waited till he went away, He kept shouting my name in front of the neighbours for about 5 minutes till he stopped (my car was in the driveway) Argh, |
