Survived a party
Well, I managed to stay at someone's house party for a full three hours without panicking and feeling only mildly nervous. No hiding in the toilet for extended periods of time *this* time! OK, so I was very quiet and shy and didn't go and introduce myself to people, but nor did I immediately panic at the prospect of being introduced to new people and I think I managed to say a few words and avoided looking too rude.
Didn't really get into any lengthy conversations with people I didn't already know but I did better than normal (even going in the first place is doing better than normal) so I'm quite pleased. Fairly modest, but excellent by my standards and a step in the right direction. |

Re: Survived a party
Thanks everyone, now all I need is more things like this, but opportunities are quite rare. It was particularly scary at first as I was the only bloke there with about half a dozen women (for the first half hour), and since I'm a physicist that's a very unfamiliar situation to be in!
Still, it shows that these situations aren't as bad as I feared, maybe next time I'll give this "conversation" thing more of a try |
