The final scene of Withnail and I, my fall-time favourite film, produced in the days before Richard Curtis, back when we could still make films that weren't designed to appeal to stupid fat Americans. If that film were made today someone would say "hmm, Americans don't like unhappy endings, they will want Withnail to stop being a 'slacker' and clean up his act".

^ LOVE that scene from Pretty in Pink (well ok,love the whole film ).

I love this clip from What Dreams May Come,although I wish I could find the full scenes.

(They have both died after the death of their children,he in an accident and she from suicide,he has decided to risk his place in Heaven to try and rescue her soul from Hell but risks being trapped there with her permanently. At this point he has given up trying to reach her in time and this is his goodbye)
