I meet my new boss tomorrow. I hope he’s as nice as my current one. I don’t know what to wear, I always go over the top but maybe I shouldn’t.
I feel bad for my oh, he had his RuneScape account hacked today and they took all his armour and stuff. I can tell he’s really gutted.

Had the AstraZeneca vaccine a few days ago. Apparently it's four days after the blood clots start to kick off. Just waiting till Wednesday...

Didn't know you had a baby, Indigo. Congratulations!

Ugh - housing costs are such a crazy problem in this country. I still can't believe they are able to get away with ... this being the new normal. I think a place of your own sounds like bliss.

My total weight loss now is 10kg, initially I was pleased but then when I think of how far I have to go still, it's not that good (urgh, negative thoughts)

Fekking ell

Going through my ..health issues and stressing out about my heart I was barely eating and losing weight, it got to the point I stopped looking at the scales as I was convinced I was wasting away (not that 12 stone is exactly wasting away)

I accidently weighed myself at work today and I'm nearly 13 again, maybe I need to cut back again on the chocolates and pork pies

I listen to lots of amazin producers on soundcloud who are talented at production and putting intricate details into there beats.

However I notice over the years some of them seem to become more generic. I wonder if the pressure to release tracks constantly because of social media and all the validation from fans like me, but not proper musicians causes some of them to burnout or not expand and grow as an artist?

Interestingly, Sam Gelliatry just released a track after being silent for a year, another guy Anomolie had a comment on one of his tracks that he had been silent for 2 years. In this age it seems normal to launch a track every month but that wasn't normal before social media. So maybe these guys taking time to release there tracks have it right.

That's good Tubbs. In the long run the time it took to lose weight wouldn't seem long if you maintain it.

The discussion about the outfits worn by gymnasts (and as a result, the subsequent discussion around swimwear) has been moved to the controversial topics thread, as a lot of what was posted was Basement material.

When making a post about a new topic, please be mindful of whether the subject is appropriate for the Lounge or not. If you are unsure then post it in the Basement.

I actually did my first day at a new job yesterday. It was an 11 hour shift though it didn’t feel like it. I was a kitchen porter but it wasn’t overly busy and the coworkers were nice. I also did done extra cleaning jobs by myself. I think usually I’m better at working alone as I get to do the job how I want to do it and to a good standard. Some other people I have worked with usually want to do an average job and also rushed. And then if I put effort in the job they complain I’m trying too hard and would ruin my body, it’s mostly minimum wage, physical jobs I’ve done.

I was calmer after work. I think I need to do more things I feel good at and things that are also of value to people. I imagine I can be a good Afro Caribbean barber, I don’t have enough experience with other hair textures. But then I feel the social aspect makes it really hard to imagine doing such job.

Today I’ve spent so much of the day online and it’s draining but I think it’s cause I just consume stuff and don’t produce enough. Even following artists I love. I feel social media allows us to connect but think it’s too much connection and sometimes it can inflate the ego of some artists as it’s easier entry than if there was no social media and it’s something that gets instant attention.

It seems like modern washing machines don't last as long as older ones. My washing machine has been broken for a few weeks.

Went for my first vaccination today. Thought it was impressive how quickly they were getting through everyone, doing 2 or 3 jabs a minute, then I got nervous when I thought what if I had a job here, it'd all come to a grinding halt, even if I was just the person who squirts your hands when you leave. People could die.

Treated myself to two massive doughnuts on the way home. They actually said, 'Merritt, treat yourself to two massive doughnuts on the way home,' and who am I to spurn the advice of someone who administers more injections in a day than I've had hot dinners? Incidentally, I'm having a hot dinner now after weighing up the pros and cons of having only eaten two massive doughnuts all day, and finding that the cons narrowly outweigh the pros, even though one of them did have lemon curd in it.

^ Did'nt you know that consuming two massive doughnuts is obligatory after you've had your jab. It's actually written in the small print Merritt

I'm thinking how the human race is doomed if some of the comments on Facebook are anything to go by. For example, I'm shocked at how many people in a local Facebook group are prepared to dismiss the PM's many little indiscretions including the death of thousands when asked the question 'Do you trust Boris?'. And then there's the many laughing emojis and hateful comments on the BBC News group in response to the recent tragedy at the Jewish religious event in Israel. Facebook is toxic. Nooo, humans are toxic

Heck I hope this Lorazepam works soon so I can get some much needed sleep and have a temporary escape from this world...

^ I wondered why there was a huge queue of people rubbing their arms at the two massive doughnuts shop

I was going to say being anonymous on the internet brings out the worst in some people, but people use their real names on Facebook, don't they? I won't even try to understand.

Hope you get some quality kip soon. Not getting plenty of sleep is the surest way for me to feel rotten.

^^ My local Facebook group has banned politically related posts entirely (luckily mostly I think because it results in so much arguing between the pro Boris pro Conservative people and the people who are appalled by their actions.)

What is underground music in 2021. Probably music by artists that don't promote their social media that much???

Cf., for example, our word ugly, which likely has as its root Old Norse uggligr which meant "dreadful, fearful" and which in English later came to mean "frightful in appearance".

How strange it is that I went through a period of struggling to watch dramas and films regularly (or finishing them) instead watching documentaries, or factual stuff or interviews etc..

This Bank Holiday I've gone the other way binged watched 2 series of Top of the Lake. And watched basically just movies back to back everything from Schindler's list to No country for old men. Currently re watching American Psycho. Wonder why my attention span for films has suddenly just come back out of nowhere
