Books
I would like to know what books people have liked reading in this age group.
I havent read a book for a long time due to a long term relationship ending -but I know in the past- I read to escape a lot of the time. I dont know if Anita Brookner has been mentioned before-but I think she is a superb writer. Other names Margaret Forster, EM Forster, Mavis Cheek.. so many. So what others have people enjoyed. |

Re: Books
I tend to read mysteries and thrillers.
I'm quite into Nordic Noir like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Wallander. On the flip side for a comfort read I read M C Beaton who writes lots of fluffy murder mysteries like The Agatha Raisin series. I like historical fiction as well, things like Wolf Hall or The People's Queen. I should say I listen to audiobooks as much as I read them so get through quite a lot. |

Re: Books
I've always loved reading fantasy adventures and science fiction. I still like reading them.
To be honest when I visit the local library, I go straight to the teenagers/young adults book section, where there are some really cool books to find. Another reading favourite of mine - graphic novels!!! |

Re: Books
I love fantasy novels - China Mieville is an author who springs to mind for that genre, I love Terry Pratchett's books, I am also a fan of Victorian crime novels such as Lee Jackson's 'London Dust'. Christopher Fowler's 'Bryant & May' detective series are a great read and a good laugh too. At the moment I am reading 'The World That Never Was - A True Story of Dreamers, Schemers, Anarchists and Secret Agents' by Alex Butterworth - an extensive history of anarchist and socialist 'terrorism' in the late 19th century/early 20th century. The next book I will be reading is Gordon Carr's 'The Angry Brigade - A History of Briatin's First Urban Guerilla Group' ...I read a lot of political stuff too

Re: Books
I mostly read non-fiction. I just finished The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism.
It made me angry. |

I usually read fiction. My favourite is fantasy I guess, but I'll read most genres. If I had to recommend one author, it would be Salman Rushdie. |

I have just enjoyed her latest novel - Strangers. She now needs to write another one. Meanwhile I have a few books floating about but not too sure about them.. |
