Default How often do you give up on a post?

I haven't been on this forum long but I've already kicked the bucket on a large quantity of posts in creation. I'm curious if this happens to a lot of others as well, furthermore if there is a common cause for you to retract a post in creation.

For me personally it's when trying to offer support to others, there's already a plateau of greater advice from around the Web and others on the forum it can often seem like I'm just repeating said advice. I've a few more reasons but I'm curious to hear yours.

On this forum I give up on them all the time, write out a long reply and then read it back and hit delete, as just my posts don't seem good enough, I'm not very interesting or helpful. I'm starting to think why I come on here now.

This all could be because I feel depressed right now though.

^ You might not seem interesting to yourself, but to others you will be, I should think most of us are here because we want to hear other people's views and experiences.

It does take a fair bit of social confidence to post on a forum as you're addressing an audience of shadowy figures lurking somewhere behind the computer screen without much evidence of what they think of you so I think it's quite a brave and difficult thing for anyone with social anxiety to do. I tend to delete most of what I write before I post it so you're definitely not alone.

Ooh, about half of what I plan to post never sees the light of say (some would say it's the wrong half that makes it but oh well). Mostly it's because it seems a bit daft to me once it's there in black and white.

I think about posting sometimes but then decide not too. Though if I end up starting a post I just post it. So I guess I never give up on a post I start typing but give up of a lot of posts when thinking.

When I'm reading threads I tend to think of a response in my head first. Sometimes I find someone has beaten me to it or has simply offered great advice in a much better way than I could have articulated so I just agree instead

Yeah I do it quite often. Sometimes its because I decide mid post that the replies to something are better than what I could have said or what I was going to say, sometimes I just simply give up for no apparent reason if I can't be bothered to carry on typing the post

When I posted here years ago I frequently deleted or heavily edited my posts.

I'm not so bad now, though I stick to mostly posting in fun threads where I feel my opinion probably doesn't really matter. I suppose back in the day I was like "omg people will be reading this". Now I'm more like "I doubt anyone's remotely interested in my thoughts on anything" I post anyway but I guess its from loneliness and an interest in other SA people.

I do quite often give up, thinking that my post would be the least helpful of all the replies to someone (although I mostly avoid trying to post replies to serious issues).

I have also written a reply, read it, changed it, read it again, changed it again then just deleted it and gone off to look if there's any new bike reviews on BikeRadar.

It happens to about one in four posts. I may start writing and then I start irritating myself, or depressing myself, or BORING myself, particularly if my reply is a bit cranky. I just think: why I am I doing this? What am I adding to the world? Do I just want to hear the sound of my own voice? So I delete.

more often than I would like, reason, I don't have anything to say or I think no one is interested, but mainly because I don't think I make sense or people will not understand so think I'm a little dim.
