Over the next couple of nights there will be meteor showers and apparently you can see up to 100 stars an hour in some areas.

I've just seen one in about 10 minutes but that will do.

Wish I had someone to see spot them with though tbh.

I'd love to do this, but will probably need to go to a secluded area like a forest since I live in a big city and all we see is orangeness in the sky. Not a big fan of going on my own though to such a secluded place, but I might try it

I'm 8 miles from Brum city centre and we've got some good visibility here.

Just need a lady, two sun loungers, blankets, tea, hot choc, rum, some nibbles, n I'd be sorted.

I just drove a few miles from town, hoping to get a good view of the meteors. There's a perfect clear sky over Essex tonight.

I used a great app, Star Walk, on my iPad to locate Perseus, where the meteors appear to come from, but only saw three in about 45 minutes, not the one every minute the media was predicting.

All in all, a bit disappointing.

I'm hoping for some sci fi shit right here but so far if you blink, you miss.

I'm off out again to try and spot a whopper.

I was going for a late night drive and spotted them going over so I pulled up and spent a happy ten minutes watching the show. About one-a-minute in rural Warwickshire. They're very shy and you need the corners of your eye to catch them!

Happy star catching to all you fellow shooting stars!

Went out and seen a few I'm now sat in the warm and having a hot chocolate as it's a bit nippy out there for the time of year! I'm now listening to a meteor radio that picks up signals every time there is a meteor being the geek I am.

Well I decided no to go to bed and there's much more activity now.

I saw the first one that wasn't out of the corner of my eye and two slow big ones. The one lasted for about 8 seconds before it faded away.

I've read that the best time to see them is between 2 and 7 am.

Off back out now.

Holy shit I've seen 16 now and the 16th one was like no other.

It was bloody huge and so bright, like magnenisum burning in the sky. You could even see vapour or smoke behind it.

Now I know what Jake Bullet's talking about.

Had a quick peek last night but felt self-conscious about standing in the back garden in the dark looking up in the air in case any neighbours saw me and thought I was mad. Will be braver tonight and try again.

Wow 16!

I managed to see one small one, but I was getting pins and needles standing looking up for ages.

There's supposed to be a comet coming soon that they reckon could be as bright as the moon! Not sure of the date.

You could see loads around here, endo.

Last one I saw was around 6 am and like a flash of light.

Saw 19 altogether.

The 16th one I saw was a monster and much brighter than the moon.

It was like watching god burning a strip of magnesium in the sky, then exploding into a ball of white light.

Don't think anything will top number 16th but I'll try again tonight.

Really cloudy right now though.

Didn't see anything here. Couldn't even see the real stars, so I guess it must have been too cloudy.

Cheers for the heads up about this event, Frusty
I had my gown and trainers on and shouted "fecking brilliant" while outside stood in the back yard.

BTW, Endo, I was just thinking about asking you if you wanted to meet at stourbridge junction and then find a bit of open land to do a bit of meteorite spotting.

The skies are stating to clear and it's only ten minutes on the train.

Then I thought no, and Endo will probably say no, and then also that you don't have a vagina.
