Apparently my gran is sat up eating ice cream

None of the doctors have a clue how shes alive, she had machines breathing for her and heart rate in the 20's, they were all about ready to..put her at ease due to how much she was struggling to breathe

2 days later shes in bed eating ice cream, talking about going on holiday and baffling all the staff in the hospital (admittedly she has dementia so shes talking a lot of rubbish but)..Shes a tough one

I appear to have lost my appetite :/

Not that this is a bad thing...but still, highly unusual. Even more unusual considering I'm near my period. I should be eating everything site.

This thread seems to have become "gran report" for me..possibly as it what I'm thinking of quite a bit

Shes back to losing the fight with the chest infection and has had to stop all her other meds (which is a worry in itself) to let the antibiotics have a crack at it. The doctors don't seem too positive, but this is the same group who said she wouldnt see saturday

I wish our gas fire was working. It's been out for 3 weeks now, dad's trying to get someone in to fix it. We do have central heating but the fire gives out more heat

Trying to think of a cheap way to block view from the lower panes of my windows, but let in light. Baking paper is the cheapest idea I've had, but one of the panes is 83x83 so the paper would have to have 3 joins.

Edit: I can get a shower curtain for £3. Does shower curtain material fray or is it bonded?

Yea I had voile up before, I really like it, but I don't want to spend money on rods now I have plastic frames so don't want to screw into them for net wire.

I did look into window film, but saw a lot of people rating it low and it's quite expensive.

I've got one, but im not going to need a mortgage. This leaves me in the weird position of having to take out a mort that I don't need in order to get my bonus, which is a little bizarre.

No. You save and get tax free interest like a normal ISA, but when you get your first mortgage, the government chip in another 25% of whatever you saved. At least that's how I remember it working. Maximum bonus is 3k though, so no point saving above 12k

Got to go out today which is a good thing I guess as I haven’t been out for days and these four walls are starting to feel a bit like a prison but the thought of stepping out the front door feels me with dread these days. If there were no other people relying on me I’d stay in bed for the rest of the day - maybe forever - because it’s the only place I feel safe.

I wish looking for jobs and applying for jobs could be exciting and interesting. Instead, it is absolutely petrifying. Nothing scares me more than the world of work. I can only currently cope with a part time job and that isnt going to change any time soon, instead I just waste my life away, while everyone else* seems to actually enjoy going up the career ladder.

* obviously not everyone enjoys careers, but thats how it feels sometimes.

I've gone down the career ladder recently and I could not be happier. I've never had any real ambition or drive within the career of education other than to reach the role of a teacher. I'm a full-time teaching assistant now for a child with medical needs and whilst I'm earning a lot less money there is no stress or pressure and I leave my job at the school door.

The lifetime isa seemed to be better than the help to buy isa (I jumped ship last year)

I stick 4 grand in a year and the gov make it 5 (plus a few quid interest on top)

I forgot the ins and outs of it now, its for either a house purchase or to draw it out as a pension at a certain age, I don't know how they stop me from taking it out and blowing it on a car or something stupid, I can't remember..but it did seem more beneficial than the help to buy one.

Yes I was going to swap to a LISA, but they were all stocks & shares at the time rather than cash and looks like there are only two cash options now.

I just saw I can have a Help to buy and LISA at the same time, so I'll get a LISA open this year to save for retirement, as this year is my last chance.

One problem with this from memory is that they are counted as savings in your benefit calculations unlike pensions, so might be better to just pay heavily into a pension instead.

@ Melangell So sorry that you are having such a horrible time of it right now. As Biscuit say’s if you lived near me (and I wasnt so severely SA!!!) I’d invite you round for tea and sympathy. Take care lovely x

@ HermannHesse I’m sorry that you are feeling so isolated and alone. For what it’s worth, folk here can totally relate although I imagine such words bring little comfort. Take care HH
