James - Sit down

Now I'm relieved to hear
That you've been to some far out places
It's hard to carry on
When you feel all alone
Now I've swung back down again
It's worse than it was before
If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy

Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they're touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me
Love, in fear, in hate, in tears

If you could read my mind - Gordon Lightfoot

If you could read my mind love
What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishin' well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
And I will never be set free
As long as I'm a ghost that you can't see
If I could read your mind love
What a tale your thoughts could tell
Just like a paperback novel
The kind that drugstores sell
When you reach the part where the heartaches come
The hero would be me
But heroes often fail
And you won't read that book again
Because the ending's just too hard to take

I'd walk away like a movie star
Who gets burned in a three way script
Enter number two
A movie queen to play the scene
Of bringing all the good things out in me
But for now love, let's be real
* I never thought I could ACT this way *
And I've got to say that I just don't get it
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feelin's gone
And I just can't get it back

If you could read my mind love
What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishin' well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
But stories always end
And if you read between the lines
You'll know that I'm just tryin' to understand
The feelin's that you lack
I never thought I could feel this way
And I've got to say that I just don't get it
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feelin's gone
And I just can't get it back

theres probably loads! often just one line in a song means something while the rest doesn't.
I could just copy over some of the ones I posted in this thread;
http://www.social-anxiety-community....ad.php?t=33223
I collected quite a few together in there.

yea I am the same in some ways, its amazing how a piece of music can convey a feeling or emotion, rather than just words. also some music I don't relate to it personally but I like to step into someone elses shoes ,hear their story and their perspective, sometimes its nice to just listen in that sort of way.
I know peeps, this thread has morphed into a random anything goes song thread, but it is all a bit of fun- let the people decide

Okay I finally remembered some. ;x

Alice In Chains - Love, Hate, Love
"Lost inside my sick head. I live for you, but I'm not alive."

The Verve - Gravity Grave
"My life is a boat being blown by you, nothing ahead just the deepest blue."

The Black Keys - Too Afraid to Love You
(whole song)

Led Zeppelin - Thank You
"If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When the mountains crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me."

U2 - Rejoice
"And what am I to do? What in the world am I to say? There's nothing else to do. He says he'll change the world someday. I rejoice."

Kula Shaker - Temple of Everlasting Light
"I have waited to be here. Now I feel you, I feel you near. Take me home."

Catherine Wheel - Heal
"But it's all a lie and I've never felt so sad
There's a streak of melancholy running down my back
And there's a great mistrust that borders round the man
I call it strange from a boy who never left his head
It's how high you are and the time it takes to heal"

The Verve - Life's An Ocean
(the whole song) but this line:
"Imagine the future, woke up with a scream. I was buying some feelings from a vending machine."

King Crimson - Epitaph
"Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
And laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying."

Oasis - Little By Little
"We the people fight for our existence
We don't claim to be perfect
But we're free
We dream our dreams alone
With no resistance
Fading like the stars we wish to be"

Tangerine Dream - Loved by the Sun
(whole song)

Keane - You Don't See Me
"Oh, truly we are a fortunate few who turn on your axis revolve around you
All spinning outwards from your sun passing your reflection on
In your hurry to grasp everything that you see
You don't see me, you don't see me
You don't see me, no you don't see me"

Journey - Wheel In The Sky
(whole song)

Bert Jansch - A Woman Like You
"I don't believe I've seen
A woman like you anywhere
And I must admit that I can't see
To making you into a dream

But if I had a magical wonder word
I'd send a dove to catch your love
And I send a blackbird to steal your heart

But a broken heart won't go
My endless search, little girl
I gonna fix a magical spell
To weave on you, little girl"

Queen - Live Forever
(whole song)

Coldplay - Moses
"Come on now, don't you wanna see. This thing that's happening to me. Like Moses' power over sea, so you've got a power over me."

The Cure - Burn
(whole song)

Abba - Eagle
"They came flying from far away, now I'm under their spell
I love hearing the stories that they tell
They've seen places beyond my land and they've found new horizons
They speak strangely but I understand
And I dream I'm an eagle
And I dream I can spread my wings"

Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

"I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals
I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa"

Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms

"There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones"

Stan Bush - The Touch
"You never bend, you never break
You seem to know just what it takes
You're a fighter

It's in the blood, it's in the will
It's in the mighty hands of steel
When you're standin' your ground

And you never get hit when your back's to the wall
Gonna fight to the end and you're takin' it all"

The Everly Brothers - Crying in the Rain
"I'll never let you see
the way my broken heart is hurting me
I've got my pride and I know how to hide
all my sorrow and pain
I'll do my crying in the rain"

Travis - Driftwood
"Everything is open
Nothing is set in stone
Rivers turn to ocean
Oceans tide you home
Home is where your heart is
But your heart had to roam
Drifting over bridges
Never to return
Watching bridges burn
You're driftwood floating underwater"

Bryan Ferry - Is Your Love Strong Enough
"Just one beat of your heart
And stranger than fantasy
I knew from the start
It had to be the place for me
Someone that I would die for
There's no way I could ever leave"

Pheonix - If I Ever Feel Better
Quote:
They say an end can be a start
Feels like I've been buried yet I'm still alive
It's like a bad day that never ends
I feel the chaos around me
A thing I don't try to deny
I'd better learn to accept that
There are things in my life I can't control.
Brand New - Degausser
Quote:
I'll find sleep in the end tonight
I can't shake this little feeling
I'll never get anything right

[Kid Cudi:]
Day and night (what, what)
I toss and turn, I keep stressing my mind, mind (what, what)
I look for peace but see I don't attain (what, what)
What I need for keeps this silly game we play, play
Now look at this (what, what)
Madness to magnet keeps attracting me, me (what, what)
I try to run but see I'm not that fast (what, what)
I think I'm first but surely finish last, last

[Chorus:]
'cause day and night
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at night
He's all alone through the day and night
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at night (at, at, at night)
Day and night
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at night
He's all alone, some things will never change (never change)
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at night (at, at, at night)

[Kid Cudi:]
Hold the phone (what, what)
The lonely stoner, Mr. Solo Dolo (what, what)
He's on the move can't seem to shake the shade (what, what)
Within his dreams he sees the life he made, made
The pain is deep (what, what)
A silent sleeper you won't hear a peep, peep (what, what)
The girl he wants don't seem to want him too.
It seems the feelings that she had are through, through

[Chorus]

[Kid Cudi:]
Slow mo (what, what)
When the tempo slows up and creates that new, new (what, what)
He seems alive though he is feeling blue (what, what)
The sun is shining man he's super cool, cool
The lonely nights (what, what)
They fade away he slips into his white Nikes (what, what)
He smokes a clip and then he's on the way (what, what)
To free his mind in search of,
To free his mind in search of,
To free his mind in search of,

[Chorus]

At, at, at night

"All I wanted was the chance to say"

From this song..

.. to which I can relate entirely.

Also this;

"At the first light of dawn
We heard that he was gone.
Our hearts was empty
And our eyes was filled."

From the song 'Brand New Angel', from the film 'Crazy Heart'. Reminds me of a loved one.

Numb Wings - Prodigy

Something's perishing in me.
The pain's impossible to deceive.
That one easily learns to fly,
But the wings leave to break.

My numb wings...

Can't trim this next song down - the whole song is worthy of quoting really. If I were to relate it to my own life I would say that it feels like the young me, and the older me, having this conversation

Father and Son by Cat Stevens

Father:
It's not time to make a change,
Just relax, take it easy.
You're still young, that's your fault,
There's so much you have to know.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy.

I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy,
To be calm when you've found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you've got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

Son:
How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
It's always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Father:
It's not time to make a change,
Just sit down, take it slowly.
You're still young, that's your fault,
There's so much you have to go through.
Find a girl, settle down,
if you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy.

Son:
All the times that I cried, keeping all the things I knew inside,
It's hard, but it's harder to ignore it.
If they were right, I'd agree, but it's them you know not me.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

the Chameleons - Monkeyland

I shake my head and shiver
They smile
And then stab my back as they shake my hand
Send out an SOS plea
Come quickly
I'm marooned in monkeyland.
Is there anyone there
Who understands me
Anyone at all

I'm idly staring at the sky
Did anybody hear me sigh
A million stars are a moving sight
To all you out there
Reading this tonight
It's just a trick of the light

I have to know what is real
And what is illusion
Tell me how does it feel
Beyond this confusion
Is there anyone there

Do I dismiss this with a sigh
Suppose I must from time to time
And let the answers pass me by
To questions set to bend the mind
Is my creator a God or a man
Does someone somewhere
Care or understand
It's just a trick of the light

I have to know what is real
And what is illusion
Tell me how does it feel
Beyond this confusion
Is there anyone there

Life's an optical illusion
Like other optical illusions
Beware
If there's anyone there

Wild west hero - ELO

Sometimes i look up high and then I think there might
just be a better life.
Away from all we know, that's where I wanna go,
out on the wild side
and I wish I was, o-oo-o-oh, a wild west hero.

Rolling Stones - You can't always get what you want

No, you can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime, you just might find
You get what you need

Stephen Stills - Love the one you're with

And if you can't be with the one you love honey
Love the one you're with, Love the one you're with,

At the moment the song that best sums up my life is Marina and the Diamonds - Are you satisfied. Particularly:

It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
It's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

How it pretty much is:

REM - Everybody Hurts
Sometimes everything is wrong...
When you think you've had to much of this life, then hang on

Mantra I generally try and live by:

50 cent - Hustlers Ambition
If you get in my way while I'm trying to get mine, then f**k you

Babe rainbow
You gotta go on
Babe rainbow
Keep your glow on
Though your hand has
Been held away too long,
You're afraid to walk
The streets alone
Keep your glow on
Babe rainbow oh -
You gotta go on

Oh It must be hard lookin' up at the sun
When you know in your heart
You might never be warm
Oh I know it's hard lookin' up at the sun
When you know deep inside
You might never be warm

Oh fun

There are a few, but this one stands out. It's Plowed by Sponge
Say a prayer for me
I'm buried by the sound
In a world of human wreckage
I'm lost and I'm found and I can't touch the ground
I'm plowed into the sound

Cold Play - In my place.

In my place, in my place*
Were lines that I couldn't change*
I was lost, oh yeah*

I was lost, I was lost*
Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed*
I was lost, oh yeah*

Yeah, how long must you wait for it?*
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?*
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?*
For it...*

I was scared, I was scared*
Tired and underprepared*
But I'll wait for it*

If you go, if you go*
And leave me down here on my own*

In my place, in my place***160;
Were lines that I couldn't change***160;
And I was lost, oh yeah***160;
Oh yeah
