Going out
I have a major problem with leaving the house on my own, I always feel more confident when someone comes with me.
I feel this is making me miss out on so much in life and makes me feel depressed. Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone give me any tips on how to over come this problem. Thanks x |

Re: Going out
I would recommend finding a local walk and then start to have a daily walk around, i used to go through a wood near my home
i usually walked around late when there was few people then started to go earlier and earlier helped me alot plus i could just listen to my mp3 player while i went around |

Re: Going out
I have to be listening to my ipod when I leave the house alone, I don't know what I'd do without it. But I prefer to listen to podcasts or audiobooks, then it feels like there's someone there talking to me and so I'm not really alone and I feel more confident.

Re: Going out
repetition repetition repetition. I honestly think you should go to place you think you could manage and go to that place as often as possible. Do as much time there as possible and keep at it, just to get the feeling of being outdoors. It becomes easier, i was the same when leaving the house a few years ago. I've lessened the panic loads, i think through repetition.

Re: Going out
Yeah totally know what you mean i get the same all the time, always feels better if someone's with you but that's not always the case. I think the more you walk alone the easier it gets.
Fearing it makes it worst. Keep your chin up! |
