^ I like him, he's great and he has a son who is autistic. He can also be on the new list of leading authorities on autism

I' m disillusioned with the autistic community It has a hierarchy just as the NTs do. At the top are the self appointed 'elite' dominating ' the discussion re autism and having little time for the views of those of us deemed 'not worthy',

Not forgetting the nauseating orgy of mutual backslapping. They reject people like me just as much as the other boys at my public school did.

^ Do you mean the professionals involved in autism research and diagnosis etc? Or autistic people themselves?

I can agree to this. I think it happens everywhere though.

Has anyone felt ashamed of having autism?

https://www.today.com/today/amp/tdna151453

Do you ever wonder if you appear annoying or irritating to others?

Yes I often feel I'm being annoying to others and I've been outright told that I'm annoying!

This young woman is amazing, but it just goes to show that everyone needs to be given the ability to communicate in whatever way is possible for them.

Idk, I overshare as well if I feel comfortable with a person but usually undershare.

It’s moments like these I feel show up my (possible) autism.

I have a favourite shady spot in the garden under a tree I love. However my Mum keeps hacking it back to get rid of the shade. In the hot summer, I like to sit under there.
A tree man came over to cut down a tree that was in danger of falling over. I asked her if they were cutting anything else down, and she said no.
However, I’ve come back today, and they have also cut down the tree I like to sit under. There is nothing wrong with it - not diseased or anything. I’m so absolutely furious, as it’s the only part of the garden I like to sit in, and the only shady bit. I’m not even going to tell my mum how upset I am, as she will just get angry with me. When I’m upset before, I’ve tired to explain why she has upset me, in a calm grown-up manner, but it always ends up with her getting angry so it’s not worth the bother.

I realise I’m perhaps being over emotional, which is why I repress it all, and just end up punching a pillow to get my anger out. Totally normal

^ Aw, it is a shame to cut down a healthy tree! I can see why you're annoyed. Maybe you can get yourself a sun umbrella or something similar to sit under for some shade

^ Honestly, I’m so pissed off. It wasn’t just the shade I liked, but also watching the insects on the blossom. One of the few places I can truly relax. I think I’m more frustrated that I won’t be able to talk about it with her, which is surely the healthy thing to do.
I really can’t wait to just live somewhere all alone.

^ I think we all have our favourite spots in the garden, mine is right up the top, it's a medium sized tree and it surround a concrete base, that can be used for multiple purposes. I'm sorry about your tree it may take a while but it could grow back or you could create a new area maybe plant a new tree but I guess it would take time to grow.

^ What the helpline said to me what really helped is when you get a negative thought immediately detach yourself from it and put in its place a happier thought, I no what you mean about family Mellie, there’s that old saying you can’t choose your family but you can choose your friends.

Also remember every day is a new day so what happened yesterday or the day before doesn’t matter just focus on today.

I hope you feel better soon, I still feel terrible but I’m trying to carry on at the moment for as long as possible.
