I have the same problem when I click on "new posts", it's been the same for the last few months.

I believe that you are logged out automatically after 30 mins of inactivity. The best thing to do, as biscuits says, is to copy the contents of the PM you were writing, so that you can paste it if you do get logged out.

It shouldn't be doing this when you click on new posts though

Yes, both of these. I habitually copy things before hitting submit on anything. If it's a multipart form and I get logged out then I'll say a little prayer and use the back button method, but that doesn't always work, it depends how the website is set up.

I used to get this an awful lot. But I now (on my laptop and tablet) seem to stay permanently logged in. So if I go off for an hour or two I'm still logged in even tho I've not been active. Also if my laptop switches off when I'm off somewhere or I close it, when I come back I'm still logged in when I come back to SAUK. I don't know how I've achieved this tho.
Whereas my phone logs me out all the time.

My phone keeps me logged in all the time, it's on my laptop I have to log in, but I only use my laptop to access this forum once in a blue moon.
