Getting ready to leave for a GP appointment. How I'm feeling right now, I'm scared I might burst into tears in front of him. I know it's going to be a complete waste of time again

Re: What are you doing right now? (6)
^ I advise you write down in bullet points the points you wish to make and refer to them in the consultation. This will keep you on track and also make the best use of time. I have used this technique myself with success.
If possible, get in middle class mode but be respectful and not arrogant. If it doesn't work, you will need to try another doctor. |

Re: What are you doing right now? (6)
^ Thanks for the feedback Choirgirl
Unfortunately my GP appointment didn't go at all well, and he tried to fob me off with antidepressants (although I'm already on antidepressants that I am prescribed privately). It's obvious that peri-menopausal women are expected to go away and suffer in silence so I shall think about referring myself to a clinic where they take hormonal women seriously. I imagine it's not uncommon for other folk here also, but I've found that when I go to the Doctors with physical health problems as soon as they know that I suffer with mental health issues they are hell bent on proving that everything is down to that. Very frustrating. |

Re: What are you doing right now? (6)
^I am rather cross on your behalf. It's really very unsatisfactory. I do think the clinic sounds like a good idea. Re the mental health problems, I wonder how this would go. Just ask the doc outright in a neutral manner: 'Do you believe a patient can have mental health problems AND physical health problems?' Pause. Wait till he/she takes it in. Hopefully some kind of rational brain will engage.

Re: What are you doing right now? (6)
Sadly it seems to be the way they deal with a lot of things now. If you go back because you're still not right then it's because the dosage isn't right yet or you should try a different type for a while and see how that goes. It makes you wonder if treatment would be any different if men menstruated.

Watching stand up comedian, Mark Normand. He is a fella socially awkward, so he is one of us highly recommend. Very funny.

I was eating but I'm full of intrigue and nosiness
The police are here Edit: I was full of nosiness now more concern. I was first hopeful it might be to do with arsehole downstairs but think there doing a welfare check on the old lady. Doesn't seem good... as she's not answering and she never really goes out much as she has mobility probs and anxiety |

Ah well, I pulled myself out of my irrational thought spiral and went to the dentist earlier today and they can't see me till halfway through next week. Many more days of eating food on one side of my mouth ensues. And I got an official warning. Yes, I know I asked for this.

Re: What are you doing right now? (6)
I am actually job hunting. I'm also planning to cycle to most of these jobs and I'm bricking it, but one thing at a time. When I get to the long patchy period of my work history, I stop and despair for a moment. What the **** was I doing? What? Yes, yes, I remember having severe social anxiety, yes, I remember having depression, but this period is so long and bad.

Re: What are you doing right now? (6)
Yeah, it coulda been fun, it likely would've been or at least manageable, but my friend didn't have to hand crucial details, like how many people are attending, he said it's all a bit of a mystery.
We'd already been to a pub earlier in the week (which i'm still patting myself on the back for after not having done something like that for ages), so i was quite happy with things for now. It's also enough to know that i've got options. |
