What is your favourite Christmassy food, drink or snack?
The supermarket shelves are heaving with Christmas foodstuffs. All sorts of festive snacks, treats, goodies, nibbles and mouthfuls are being presented to us from the minute we march into the supermarket to the moment we crawl out again, broken and sobbing. I freely admit I surrender all self control, not to mention self respect, within seconds of seeing the the first colourful packet featuring a reindeer, santa claus or sprig of holly and load up my basket like a contestant on supermarket sweep.
Sitting here now, still 12 days before Cristmas, I am currently in the midst of a mince pie binge of Billy Bunter proportions. And that's just my breakfast! So I was wondering, what is your favourite Christmassy food? Are you, like me, a slave to mince pies, or are you more of a Christmas pudding or Christmas cake person? Do you go bananas for brussel sprouts or turkey and roast potatoes, or perhaps pigs in blankets or brandy butter? Do you eat all the chocolates in your advent calendar in one sitting? And do you wash it all down with a favourite Christmas tipple? Lots of people seem to drink Baileys at Christmas. Confess all now. |

Re: What is your favourite Christmassy food, drink or snack?
there's often been home-made carrot and coriander soup at Christmas, which is always lovely.
and there's usually a nut roast which has been amazing too, I love all the roasted potatoes and parsnips and gravy,, to be honest, I'm not a fan of chocolate and all that, so I tend to pass on that, we tend to have olives and cheese out too afterwards,... oh dear, I'm feeling all bloated and sleepy now just thinking about it. |

Stuffing and roasties.
Also Quality Street. I'm going to pass on the Christmas tree flavoured crisps, strange idea. |

Mince pies are ridiculously overrated.
Christmas pud is ok but the best christmas pud is homemade and that takes a fair bit of effort. Christmas cake is quite lovely Wow,how am I endorsing calorific,weight-gaining, diabetes causing foods. I'm going to have to kick myself and avoid all the christmas treats and look forward to Turkey. |

^^ Indeed, who wants to eat something that tastes like a Christmas tree or any tree for that matter!
The only Christmas food I've had so far is advent calendar chocolates and chocolatey things are usually my favourite. |

Hmm. I love an excuse to get stuck into tempura prawns or prawns in batter either dipped in seafood sauce or chilli sauce. Salt and Vinegar crisps and fresh dips (probably the only time I eat s&v crisps. A lot of the other nibbles on offer are always worth a try.
Ferraro Roche - hello. Anything praline. After eights. Xmas dinner now i'm on my own I tend to have lamb and roast trimmings (love roast parsnips and Brussel sprouts). Not awfully seasonal but any excuse for lamb as it's usually to expensive for me . |

No complaints from me. But she does go crazy over my Christmas log.
Having it without cream is not optional. |
