Hello all...
I hope this is the right way of going about introducing myself?! This is all kind of new to me...
Anyway, I'm Belle and I often go through periods of social anxiety and shyness. They can be kind of unpredictable. In certain situations I'll be OK, but in others I'll find I just won't be able to 'click' with the people I'm trying to communicate with - or make myself heard as I'm naturally quite a quiet person. When that kind of situation arises it's then a downwards spiral of awkwardness and feeling like a hopeless social failure (probably more my distorted perception than other people's but I'm sure other people pick up on it...). I've just had that kind of experience today actually, at a friend's birthday drinks that I really ended up feeling rubbish after because I couldn't really get talking to anyone...  Problems quite often come up at work as well, where it can seem like a nightmare just asking a colleague to do a small task (like pass me something) or approaching my manager about any issues I might have. I'm keen to hang out here for a while and just see what other people's experiences are like and how they manage them. I've never really spoken to anyone else about all of this as I don't think it's that bad - but it can make life pretty difficult and miserable a lot of the time. Anyway, hope to communicate with some of you soon. Belle

Thanks for the welcome messages all - feels really nice. Also liking your quotes and lyrics - it's good to have found a place like this to come and make my presence known without feeling as awkward or uncomfortable as can often be the case face-to-face...
Anyway, this is just a quick post before I head to bed but hope to be back soon. Belle
