Default MEN : What qualifies as a "good sense of humour" in a woman ?

Men, what kind of "funny" would you like your lady to be?
A Jo Brand sense of humour? Always talking about cakes and periods?
Victoria Wood? Whimsy and knocking out tunes on the old joanna?
Shappi Khorsandi? Lots of ethnic jokes?
Sarah Millican?erm....... more cake jokes..........
erm.............Gina Yashere? erm........... more ethnic jokes?..........erm.....

I hate stupid girl humour - women who pretend to be stupid.

this.

I have also read that women want a man who can make them laugh but men tend to want a woman who laughs at thier jokes

The term 'good sense of humour' has, of course, no universal definition. When people describe someone as having a good sense of humour they mean one similar to their own.

I'm not sure how I would characterise my sense of humour. It's a bit warped, but it's also quite varied. Sometimes I like dry, deadpan humour and cutting sarcasm, sometimes I'll go for whimsy and absurdism. Sometimes I'll laugh at clever logical jokes and plays on language, at other times I'll have a snigger at something juvenile.

So, like most people, I like people who share in my sense of humour, but I couldn't say for sure what that sense of humour is.

If one person laughs with me and I laugh with them, I'm sorted.

What?! Silverman's awesome! What's wrong with Silverman? When I first saw the opening to Way of the Gun I weed in my panties.

Although I think Hitchens would agree with you:

I don't know about women comedians. There seem to be plenty of funny women comedy actors but I can't think of one consistently good standup As for what I find funny in women I know, well open minded, able to dish it out and take it, good at banter, quite dark and a bit sarcastic, not easily offended and intelligent.

Each to their own but that sort of 'Does my bum look big' humour just sums up for me what's bad about a lot of women's comedy, it's not very original and it's too limited in it's scope. That's been done and dusted to death and it wasn't particularly funny when it first come out. It just seems a bit naff tbh.

No, i think it was just a sketch from 'Smack the Pony' http://www.channel4.com/programmes/smack-the-pony, all of the actors were talented but Sally Phillips just happened to be the one who did it for me.

I would love to meet a woman who could just laugh at herself a bit if you know what I mean. Would love to have a witty girlfriend but someone who didn't take themselves to seriously would do.

On the topic of woman comedians, their material is just as good usually, there's just as many unfunny male comedians as unfunny female comedians

Yeah, i guess, but there's more to her than that. She looks attractive and has a sense of humour (honest, some of the gags are truly funny), i don't think either quality would swing it but both together make a winning combo.

I used to watch smack the pony and quite liked it but the impression I always got was it was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes the sketches could be funny and other times just meh. Almost like they were missing some form of quality control. I don't know how that happens. Same with French and Saunders.

Yeah alright, I just fancy Sally Phillips and tried to justify it by alluding to her comedic credentials. In my defence, while she is cute, the fact that she has a sense of humour is the clincher.

All sketch shows are hit and miss, to a greater or lesser extent.

someone that can take the piss out of themselves and someone that can take things on the chin regarding sarcastic remarks and minor piss takes .

Someone with no boundries regarding "sillyness" and randomness

True it just seems and this is obviously just my opinion it was a more regular occurrence with women only sketch shows perhaps because there are just less of them so they are more likely to get on TV despite being a lower standard?

Gladiatress was actually a full length film unfortunately, caught it on the telly a while back and piss poor would be a polite description I weren't really a fan of Smack The Pony, I have enjoyed Doon's performances quite a bit over the years though.

You seen Josie Long live Morti? Thinking about going to her show next week but only really seen her on panel shows and the like before.

Just watched the clips on youtube. Too bad it's not a film. Reminds me of Chelmsford 123.

I think Ruby Wax is really funny. If you want a laugh don't watch the first bit, it's depressing, but starting at 3.30 it's kickass!
