Negotiation
I successfully negotiated my rent with the letting agent for my flat. My rental contract is due for renewal soon and the landlord wanted to put up the rent. Somehow (still not quite sure how I managed this) I was assertive enough to insist they keep the rent the same as before. This is very unusual for me, normally they name a price and I accept cos negotiating is way too much anxiety causing conflict and they always push the price up cos they can smell the fear.
I can now spend the pay rise I'm due next month instead of handing it all over to evil landlord like I did last year. |

Re: Negotiation
Congratulations! I'll hopefully have a similar outcome in around 11 months time.

Re: Negotiation
Nice work KateK!
I have had some horrible negotiations with my landlord. One meeting was at lunch to sort out payment for phone line installation - I was so nervous I almost chocked on my food a few times and could hardly eat. Still, I ended up paying just £10 of the £125 bill |

Re: Negotiation
Well done to you. I've never negotiated prices with landlords, firstly cos I am stupid and didn't realise you were allowed to (I thought you just had to pay whatever they want or get out), and secondly cos I'm too chicken, so well done So, now that you are rolling in spare cash, can you lend us a tenner?
