Thumbs up House Cat

I got a new house cat about 5 hours ago, and I have been attacked 4 times already, She seems to think, that she owns the bloody place!

All her food, water, litter tray has been moved into my living room.

Any tips on how to make her behave, would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know much about cats , more of a dog person , but if shes only arrived this evening its probably a pretty scary experience for her, you need to let her come to you on her own terms and build trust. Maybe watch some Jackson Galaxy

^^ Yeah, he's very good

A few higher places that she can jump up on would help, like some space on shelves or cupboards. Cats feel more secure when they can get up high and look down on everything Also she'll need stuff to play with. I find a marble sized rolled up piece of tinfoil works great, nice and cheap

You got a female cat, there's your problem. Male cats are usually less temperamental.

Ironically for dogs, female dogs are better. Male dogs irritationly territorial and bark too much. Female dogs loyal, but can be miserable as you deprive them of a mate, and puppies,

Did you not do any prior research on how to look after it and make her behave properly?

Has she been spayed? Is she used to being a house cat? She'll settle in. It's best to let her do her own thing and she'll soon approach you because you are keeper of the food and treats.

She is chipped and neutered. As it stands, I had windows 7, but it upgraded to windows 10. without my permission, so my webcam & digital cam are now obsolete.

Hope she calms down. I have a bit of a feral one myself.
Thanks.

Each cat has their own personality, I lived with 9 or 10 feral cats for years.

Aye, a did. Years ago my wee kitten went missing, the less said about that, the better, I still miss him though.

All the windows are shut, just to be on the safe side.

Anyway, she is sprawled under ma feet, looking happy as fuk

I've had my cat since she was a kitten and she is proper terrotorial and gets jealous. She sometimes sits on my lap, but she never let's me pick her up for a squadge. Some cats like their own space and it's best to wait for them to approach you.
I totally agree with you.

Once she gets settled in properly. I will take her for her first jags, then again 3 weeks roughly, I will take her for her 2nd jag.

And later I've noticed myself that cats are very different here. They are gentlemen and mademoiselles.
I think this is partly down the fact that in many countries , particularly the Balkans cats are often not kept as a domestic pet but more of a practical animal for catching rats e.t.c . In Bulgaria I had a local cat who used to vist who I called Yusef Islam , and he was a feisty bugger but I think I managed to tame him a little by the time I left , feeding him sausage seemed to help.

They weren't ma cats.

Years ago, I rented a room, the cats were getting old, sadly they have passed now.

They were my landlady's cats. I loved every single one of them.

They weren't all female, some were male.

She is doing great.
Right now, because she is long haired, she is trying to get a wee bit of fresh air, as I have the window open a wee bit.
She is eating and drinking water, loves catnip and plays with the toys I got her.

A long haired cat! I hope you're prepared for the cleaning up of the furry pants you'll have to do on a regular basis (unless you're very lucky).

I've never hoovered so much in all ma life.

Great tip here - if your house cat doesn't, or won't wear a flea collar, put the flea collar inside the the hoover. Flea's deed.
