Just an update to this - they sent me for a second ECG, which proved to be perfectly normal. Anxiety affected the first one, they told me that tense muscles, especially in the shoulder area, give of electrical signals that mess up the ECG. I must have been more relaxed the second time.

Feels like something/someone has been gradually picking off the sauk regulars over the years like there's another forum some where that they all leave for and we're the ones they didn't want.

And here's me thinking we're the cool ones!

Although I always like to look on the bright side. So if the vanishing members have found a utopian social anxiety forum, then hopefully they will send for us! In fact, I've already packed for such an occasion:

I've already tried Genovese's chess moves, Clumsy. But unfortunately no such luck. I just don't understand it! I've even got a welcome back package waiting for him:

Anyway, I hope he will return soon!

I think Rocket Spud is trapped in his car parking space. Hopefully he has car snacks for sustenance.

They both like to take breaks from the forum. Hope they're both okay

I was told I'd been mentioned in despatches! I had limited internet in the Caribbean, was ridiculously busy when I got home and then managed to break my hand on New Year's Day, which means typing has been difficult. I'm in Egypt until Sunday, then need to make an appointment with orthopaedics, but I'll be back to annoy you all before you know it.

I hope the others who are "missing" are ok too and a belated Happy New Year to all.

I'm always absolutely amazed at how you manage to get around whilst being on benefits, reminds me of those "bargain loving bits abroad"

Do you hitch a ride on shipping tankers or something? lol

You'll have to tell us your secret sometime.

It's pretty simple really: firstly, I'm on benefits, but disability benefits are considerably more comfortable than UC for unemployment, for example; coupled with that, I keep expenditure to a minimum (not literally, I do allow myself the occasional luxury) and I look for bargains - cheapest air fares, packages which appear on Holiday Pirates (I learned of another platform, Cheeky Trips, this week but haven't tried it yet) and anything else which reduces the cost - having the luxury of being able to travel in the off-season really helps, especially when offset against the saving in heating bills.

The week in Egypt, for instance, cost just over £300 all-inclusive and in two-and-a-half weeks' time, I'll be going to Tunisia on a similar basis for £80 less. I didn't spend a penny whilst in Egypt (partly because my injured hand caused me to be less active than usual) and won't spend much in Tunisia. Last year, a lot of trips were based on wherever air fares were lowest (although that has to be balanced against accommodation costs, of course) and most of my UK trips were to caravan parks on promotional deals (like Sun Holidays, for example). The Caribbean cruise wasn't cheap, but still a good deal compared to the normal price and again, I spent very little on top of the cost of the cruise.

I make my money work for me too: the cashback on my Chase account pays for probably two trips each year and the "round up" pays for another, whilst the interest also covers another trip. It's pretty much the old adage of "look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves".

^ I'm sure living in social housing with rent set at an affordable rate and not having dependents makes a lot of difference too right?

^ Of course, rent doesn't come into it, that's part of the benefits (Housing Benefit), although if I were paying the rent, it would be roughly the equivalent of private rental for the area - and yes, it's true that I have no family or dependents, but when I was in a relationship, I was helping my partner and her daughter financially and paying for all three of us to travel (or just my partner and myself), so I did have that additional outlay until 18 months ago.

Hello! Thank you for thinking of lil old me!

I was poorly with COVID :[ but I'm more or less okay now. Just feeling shattered 24/7 and a bit slow when it comes to and processing information. Frazzled! Also my nose feels really funny all the time.
