Have you ever tried cannabis?
I've tried it, didn't like it, so probably wouldn't smoke it even if it was legalised.
I've heard using a vapouriser is different than smoking it, and hash cookies is a whooole nother ball game I do like the smell of it....but maybe that's more the connotation of someone doing something dodgy (against the leu) |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
Surprisingly no, partly because I've been aware that because I have mental health problems it might not be a good idea and partly because I'm on medication which I don't think would mix well with it.
I'm not opposed to it though. I've been around people using it before and I quite like the smell of it, oddly. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
No. I was desperate to when I was younger but never got the chance. Now not bothered. Can't see it doing my mental health much good. Plus after having to put up with my neighbour I view cannabis as a pain in the jacksee.
I probably would like to have got stoned and had some giggles when I was a teen/early 20's tho. |

Weed is responsible for some of my most fondest and darkest memories. Would I smoke it again? Probably.

I spent two years of my life permanently baked. Wouldn't dream of going near it now.

I think it smells horrible. What's it meant to do anyway? Chill you out? I'm already chilled out. I'm not particularly stressed. Is it meant to make you high? I don't want to be high , I like it here , on the ground where I always am. I don't need to ' escape' from anything either. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
smoked it a fair bit in my late teens,
and again, on and off through my 20's, though rarely, had it a couple of times in my 40's, (jeez I sound old ) even rarer still I have some at home I can take just now if I feel the need, but probably won't even touch it tbh, I've often had to throw it out as it's basically been so old. I know quite a few peeps who take it regular and I can usually get some for free, just by asking. it's pretty messed-up smoking it,.. but it's always been around me, growing up, I was always a bit of a spaced-out hippie when I was younger, so I've usually had some close by, just in case. in my late teens, I think it contributed hugely to paranoia and becoming more and more reclusive, nervous, shaky and SA. although it's done me wrong, I think having it around is a bit like a fire alarm or something, "break glass, in case of emergency" or something along those lines. it might seem hypocritical to still have it around and also feel it's basically bad for your mental health and somewhat dangerous and irresponsible in that sense, but, it's a bit like a naughty, emergency cigar being saved for a rainy day. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
Yep, and i tried quite hard. It didn't turn out well for me in the end, but i did go overboard.
Gotta say there's a big difference between trying and experiencing cannabis - it's not like bungee jumping, where each jump is essentially the same as the first. Some people may experience the positive effects (of cannabis) on their first run, but i'd say for the majority it's more of a acquired/trial & error thing and you'd have to try it several times before properly experiencing it. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
I've never touched it because I don't like smoking. I've nothing against drug-induced escapism though. I'm quite fond of opiates, but for job reasons, I can no longer indulge in anything stronger than codeine.

The whole 'escapism ' slant is interesting, as oddly, it can often throw reality straight in your face, Can be a shock , if you've been escaping it half your life :-/ |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
I passively inhaled it many a time at uni ,either being around housemates in halls who were great stoners or going into the square of a Sunday morning (the air stunk of weed and the fountain was full of puke and beer bottles).
My uni had a bit of a rep at the time for being a 'stoner uni'. I always think I'd be the one who ended up liking it too much and ended up in The Priory. I often wonder what became of some of those people, was there one who moved onto harder things and did end up in rehab? I'm sure that they all struggle to remember things just as much as I do. In my case though it's partly a middle age thing, partly a result of having two breakdowns and partly as a result of alcohol, sadly. |

just my tuppence worth but in my experience anti depressants and all that lot are some of the worst shit out there, drs just put vulnerable people on them and don't even bother to check how it's panning out. probably get more aftercare from a drug dealer, who is probably at least a friend. anti depressants all come with a huge list of side effects, many can make you suicidal, induce panic attacks, or at the very least, turn you into a zombie. and like i say, drs arent even checking up on that, its left to vulnerable people to go get off their faces on mind altering pharmaceuticals and thats that. you really don't have to look very far to find people who went on anti depressants and had an absolutely horrible time getting on them, being on them, coming off them, felt they were adversely affected by them for a very long time afterwards and so on. /bigpharmarant |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
I used to smoke it lots 8+ years ago, but only had it occasionally since. Not really sure why I used to have it tbh, it often made me way more anxious even with alcohol. I reckon it's sativa dominant strains that give me issues, but I've never been able to get anything with just indica (that I know of).

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
I both for and against it...
I don't think the UK will be a better place if everybody smoked more cannabis - but I could swap cannabis with alcohol in that sentence and it would still be true. However, if you want to find cannabis anywhere in the UK all you have to do is go outside onto a highstreet and you'll have purchased in 5 mins so you can argue those who want to smoke cannabis are doing so anyway. Also, strains available on road are really high in THC which is the part of the plant that contributes to mental health and paranoia - that will continue to be the same as long as it is illegal. If it was legalised, it would be regulated and softer strains would be available to those who want them. I'd imagine you need ID too - which means no more dealers selling to kiddies ( i rolled my first spliff at 13!) So I think maybe it would be good for it to be legal if it could be controlled. My personal bias : I used to smoke a lot of cannabis in my early twenties and I know it sounds weird but I think it permanently changed me - made me more introverted and deep thinking but this isn't necessarily a good thing as im not really comfortable being left along with my thoughts i found my brain would go down a rabbit hole so to speak and i start questioning everything - so currently despite loving it i'm actually to scared to smoke it now as I'm scared about where my thoughts will go - there's too much about myself i don't like... ignorance is bliss lol. I have been vaping this CBD E liquid a lot though and I have found that to be really good. I pop down with it in my vape at lunch times and I find it really relaxes my mind and makes the pointless small talk in the office a bit easier. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
I did use it on rare occasions over a period of about a dozen years, 1984-1996, but then started driving trains so stopped because of the random testing under the Transport & Works Act (apparently, cannabis can be detected in your system up to two weeks after last use) and haven't bothered with it since. I've always driven a lot, so was always wary of driving under the influence (one reason why I don't drink much either).
I know that the strains these days (which seems to be mostly home-grown as opposed to the Moroccan / Lebanese / Colombian stuff which was predominant in the 80s) tend to be much higher in THC and I do think that it should be legalised for various reasons, including better regulation of the product and to whom it's sold, taxation revenue, getting pushers off the streets (although they will still be selling other products)***8230; Anyone who wants it can find it anyway so I don't see that legalisation would increase the number of users. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
Nope , Ive never been a smoker, so smoking it never appealed really.
When I was in The Netherlands years ago I planned on visiting a "Cafe" and trying some Hash Cake. Never did though, the smell coming out of the "Cafes" wasnt pleasant, nor were some of the characters hanging around there!! I rarely even drink nowadays, and to be honest if I was going to do drugs it would probably be uppers rather than downers Id go for. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
I've never tried it. Never had any connections to get hold of any, and wouldn't have the nerve to seek it out myself.
I'd love to at least try it. I'm hoping it'll be legal not too far off in the future, because I don't really have any prospects of making weed-smoking friends any time soon. Until then, I do all my mind-altering via booze, like a respectable person. |

Re: Have you ever tried cannabis?
I tried it once when very drunk, as normally I wouldn't go near the stuff. It didn't go well with me!
I hope I never try it again really. I 'chill out' far too much as it is. I imagine if I became a regular weed smoker, i'd be laying in bed all day. I also disagree with how buying it will fund criminals. So, maybe it would be better legalised, not that i'd be interested in trying it again. |

I'm in favour of legalisation and regulation for recreational use but for medicinal it just seems to be mostly quackery.

there's a lot of pain relief properties to cannabis, last few times I've taken it, I've noticed this quite a bit, so surely if they weed ()out all the impurities and synthesise it for these properties, it can only be a good thing? |
