^ congratulations coraljo

at the weeked a girl (about 8) said something mean to my daughter & my daughter started to cry.
I surprised myself by telling the girl she had made my daughter upset and she should think about the things she says

i was then worried she would go & tell her mum & id get a punch in the face

but i was happy my daughter witnessed me standing up for her in the right sort of way.

Used body language and pheromones to make the ticket inspector walk past without asking to see my ticket

The secret odor profile required for this is crabsticks and broccoli but my "i am an ugly scotrail seat" posture is not so easy to explain

muted soul - I have to learn to eat with chopsticks too, but I always forget this is on my list of things to do until I am faced with them. Suddenly it seems like everyone in society can eat with chopsticks and I feel like some uneducated, non-well travelled, malcoordinated hick. I need to practice at home too.

I've started to do a lot more motorway driving and don't get lost as much.

Until recently I hadn't done any motorway driving.

Good for you newbs it must be really scary doing it the first few times.

Went to the docs. Was told all my options about meds and counselling and made to feel like my decision to take time off work until I feel able to cope was the right one. She advised me not to leave it too long because going back would be harder but to take the time I need. I'm glad I went even though I haven't had much luck with doctors in the past.

I just realised that it's been more than a month since I last visited this thread (I knew I'd been busy lately, but didn't realise I'd been absent that long); I don't have any achievements of my own to report, but at least I can record my appreciation of everyone's achievements over the past five weeks - it really does warm my heart to see the progress some of us are making.

I've been offered a promotion at work. It'll still be digital drudgery and far from what I want to spend a significant portion of my waking hours on, but I can't really complain about an almost 25% pay rise for doing pretty much the same as I already do.

Partial fist pump.

Finished a course about Buddhism that was very heavy on the interaction, talking in small groups, nightmare stuff. I held back more than I'd like to have, and skived off one week, but managed to participate a bit more by the end, somehow.

I opened the door to an online food shop last week.
I went to a pub (it was an awful experience but I got through it)
I fed some ducks.
I went into the doctors surgery on Thursday.
I spoke on the phone today.

The most achievements I've had in a week

^^^ Well done Dimplesxo.

I went to a gardening group today and planted some sprout seeds and tomatoes. I also watered other vegetables in the garden. I met some lovely people and had a great day!

I had a successful job interview today. I won't know for a while whether I got the job or not, but for the first time in my 36 years, I left an interview room feeling like I hadn't let myself down, sold myself short or shat my pants. There was a written assessment beforehand and the interviewer told me I got the highest score (100% - which he said was an extremely rare occurrence). I think this may have put a spring in my step, thus eradicating my nervousness somewhat.

After the interview, there was an occupational medical exam. This was less successful. I was honest about my use of antidepressants, which means that they have to contact my GP and decide whether me being a fucking MenTaL LOL poses any kind of risk (the job involves driving buses, so I would have the safety of up to 90 people in my hands). Also, they did an informal eye-test, which I failed quite badly, so now I have to go to SpecSavers and, if necessary, get glasses.

Thanks Dimplesxo and Appear.

Have you had a look to see whether there are any gardening groups in your area Appear? A friend of mine started the gardening group within a mental health support group on Meetup.

It's great to read that so many of you have had achievements whilst I've been away; I do love reading this thread and reading about everyone's progress. Spinal, it's always good to avoid homicidal urges, so congratulations.

I had a tiny achievement of my own during my recent holiday. Last Thursday (14th), I had an accident which left me with a black eye, a heavily-grazed and bruised face and a deep gash over my right eye; it happened just a few minutes before I was due to join a boatload of people on a whale-watching trip, but despite looking hideous (or, I should say, even more hideous than usual), I managed - after having cleaned up the cut and applied a plaster as a temporary measure until I could get to a hospital - to join the trip without feeling overly self-conscious. Even after I got the cut glued, the black eye, swelling, bruising and grazes were somewhat noticeable but I didn't let it hinder my enjoyment of the remaining days of my holiday.

Although I wasn't seriously hurt, the accident was a near-death experience: it's only my thick skull, pure luck and/or an inch either way which prevented me from being killed / knocked unconscious / losing an eye, so it's also a reminder that none of knows what time we have left and that we should do all we can to live now.
