What's the point of a bank holiday if you can't go anywhere or do anything?
I'm getting totally fed up of just cycling round in circles. I need real human interaction.
It seems like this will never end. I'm fed up and the behaviour of complete arseholes means that this is going to take forever to go away.
Anyway it's annoying to hear my Mum say 'well glad to hear you're coping OK' when basically I'm not. I thought I made that obvious... Oh well, carry on then.
Stuff this non-life. There's no point doing anything.

^ That is what my usual bank holidays are like, lots of people out and about so I stay at home!

You can have a socially distanced meet up with someone in a park or on a bench, or go for a walk with someone if you want to. Do you have anyone to do that sort of thing with?

^ not really :-(
I'd feel stupid asking anyway. Hey, want to stand two metres away from me in a park while we chat about all the things we haven't done in the last few months, in full mask? I can't handle one-to-one social interaction. I need a crowd to disappear into. My parents are a hundred miles away and I can't see them without taking the train, which I won't do currently. My sister might as well be on Mars.

^ It's a very odd time isn't it, no-one can do anything and therefor no-one has anything to talk about when they finally do see someone. I'd forgotten about masks too!

I'm in the same boat with family, I haven't seen any of mine for six months now since they live too far away.

I cancelled mine a few weeks ago since I was struggling with it being done by video. She was very understanding though, and it wasn't worth the energy I spent worrying about how to tell her.

about what effects all this might have on people. I don't actually buy "people will just back to normal soon enough". I think a lot people might like this to be the case, but this has been such a jarring disruption to usual habits I'm not sure people will be able to forget it all. As many SAUK users will know, traumatic events aren't easy to just forget.

That one of the hardest parts of having BPD is knowing that no one will ever love me as much as I love them. A lifetime of being lonely and I've never gotten used to it.

^ Feeling like you can never exist on the same wavelength as other people is horrible

In a way I feel fortunate that whatever PD-related issues I have, they're at least a kind that allow me to be sort of OK with loneliness. Well, not OK, but able to tolerate it. If I felt like I needed people, I don't know how I'd cope. I can abandon things like love and affection before I get hurt by them.

^I'm sure that comes with the frustration of not being able to allow yourself love and affection though.

It does, but I guess I'm able to live with it. Having even the slightest attraction to someone makes me feel like a huge creep, and that feels way worse than the frustration of avoiding things like that entirely.

^^ Merritt - Being attracted to someone doesn't mean you're a creep (your words) it means you're a normal human being. You are certainly as worthy as every other person of experiencing love and affection, even if you struggle to believe this to be true

^ Rufus - When I read in another of your posts that you have managed to abstain from drinking alcohol for 7 months my immediate thought was how tough that would have been for you but how strong you must be to have achieved this, especially when you are continuing to have such a difficult time of it. I personally think you are doing yourself a huge disservice by calling yourself a failure rather than focusing on how you are managing to confront and overcome challenges. I think you really need to give yourself some credit Rufus

@ consolida - you are a very kind and caring person, sorry if Im always negative
I was feeling low last night and felt had to get it off my chest.

Its very hard now, having to deal with my feelings, without the alcohol as my crutch. to numb, to change/alter who I am.

Thank you for being so kind I think maybe these negative self beliefs are so strong because they're a really effective coping mechanism, keeping me away from all the things in life I think are going to cause harm. I'm too afraid to think positively, because in my mind it'd be like having no excuse not to walk out into a minefield.

How has the Southwest gone from having one of the lowest Coronavirus infection rates to being the highest in the country?

Didnt Greater London go from having the highest Infection rate to having one of the lowest? Just the flip side of that I guess, possibly something to do when the virus became more widespread in the SW (as opposed to elsewhere).

The city I live in (Aberdeen) for quite a long time had a low infection rate and now is quite high (when compared to average). Similar sort of thing as what is going on in SW England I imagine.

Last time I looked South Wales seemed to be the main hotspot in the Uk. Swansea as well as Merthyr Tydfil and The Valleys were noticeably bad.

Overall though things are getting better, but slowly.....

Aw skittles88 no-one would be relieved, they would be devastated Depression is terrible and you're the one who's suffering, people just want you to start to feel better so you don't have to suffer like that so much. But as we know lots of people suffer with depression and putting on a happy front doesn't help in the long run, expressing how you feel is important.
